  • Patent number: 6641151
Abstract: A suspension system for vehicle wheels is disclosed including a tubular spring, a link arm for connecting a wheel frame for mounting the wheel to a vehicle body to the wheel spindle carrying the wheel itself, the link arm disposed at one end of the tubular spring and a stabilizer disposed inside the tubular spring and adapted to protrude from the end of the tubular spring.

  • Patent number: 6588779
Abstract: An arrangement for the suspension of a motor vehicle wheel having a wheel-bearing housing for bearing the wheel, a lower link arm for connecting the bodywork of the motor vehicle and a lower part of the wheel-bearing housing, and an upper link arm for connecting the bodywork and an upper part of the wheel-bearing housing. The arrangement further includes an additional connection between the bodywork and the wheel-bearing housing and a coupling link that is substantially rigid in the vertical direction for connecting the additional connection and lower link arm. The improved arrangement is especially suitable for a rear wheel suspension in a motor vehicle, thereby permitting a high degree of longitudinal softness and high windup strength.

  • Patent number: 6398451
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for mounting a spring to a connecting arm forming a portion of a vehicle wheel suspension in which the apparatus includes a connector affixed to the end of the spring and disposed on one side of the connecting arm, a lock disposed on the other side of the connecting arm, and fasteners extending through the connecting arm for attaching the connector to the lock.

  • Patent number: 6386553
Abstract: An arrangement for the suspension of a wheel of an automotive vehicle is disclosed. The wheel is connected to a propulsion device for driving the vehicle and a braking device for braking each individual wheel. The invention has sensors for detecting at least the angular steering displacement of the vehicle required by the vehicle driver, two steering link arms fitted between said body and attachment points in the wheel, positioned on both sides of an imaginary vertical line running through the center of the wheel, and a control unit for processing signals from the sensors and for actuating the steering link arms for adjustment of the wheel in response to the signals and the current operating state of the vehicle. Through the invention, an improved, integrated wheel suspension unit for automotive vehicles is provided, particularly allowing dynamic wheel alignment adjustment and adjustment of the angular steering displacement of each individual wheel of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5836712
Abstract: A joint between an at least hollow ended, generally cylindrical first component and a second component. The first component has a first end portion terminating in a first free end region, a second end portion terminating in a second free end region, and a mid portion extending between the first and second end portions. The mid portion has a first pre-determined external diameter and the first end portion has an external diameter which increases gradually from the first pre-determined external diameter to a second pre-determined external diameter at the first free end region. The first end portion is adapted to be pushed onto a tapered pin extending from the second component to a joined position.

  • Patent number: 5833026
Abstract: Wheel suspension for a pair of driven motor vehicle wheels, comprising a member (1), which consists of two cast aluminum member elements (2, 3) which are joined to each other. The member is intended to be fixed to a vehicle undercarriage. A wheel carrier (15) for each wheel is carried by the member via an upper and a lower link arm (12, 13), a slotted rod (14) and a longitudinal bar (18). A final drive unit (4) is fixed to the member together with a transverse leaf spring (30), which forms the wheel spring system, without the use of any special through-fasteners.
