Abstract: Methods and apparatus for the creation and use of chiplets loaded with different reagent embedded in gel carrier materials are described herein. The chiplets are created using a microfluidic device. The reagents embedded in the gel carrier materials are drawn through channels of the microfluidic device and then fixed in place within the microfluidic device. After fixing the reagents in place, generally by a reduction in temperature, one or more chiplets are separated from a region of interest portion of the microfluidic device. The chiplets can then be packaged and sold to end-users for various that would traditionally require microfluidic devices. End-user can then affix one or more of the chiplets to a sample without needing to perform a microfluidic flow operation.
