  • Patent number: 4440264
Abstract: An improved locking assembly for a folding seat is disclosed. The assembly includes a support plate adapted to be fixedly mounted to a step at its lower surface. The seat is supported by a support member when the seat is in its support position. The assembly also includes a broad hook pivotally connected at one end thereof to the support plate at a position substantially midway between the sides of the seat to hold the support member in locking relationship with the step to prevent the step from unintentionally moving out of its support position.

  • Patent number: 4320817
Abstract: An improved combined chair and stool apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a U-shaped member having a pair of leg portions defining the front legs of the apparatus, a pair of spaced support members extending between the front legs and secured thereto, and a pair of folding steps comprising upper and lower steps. A pair of spaced back legs are pivotally connected to the top step adjacent to the back edge of the top step for relative pivotal movement therebetween. A pair of spaced pivot links are pivotally connected at their opposite ends to the upper support member and to the back portion of the upper step. The lower step is pivotally attached at its front portion to the lower support member. A second pair of pivot links are pivotally connected to the top step and the bottom step. The second pair of pivot links are connected to the top step at a position forward the pivotal connection between the top step and the first pair of pivot links.

  • Patent number: 4263683
Abstract: In accordance with the invention there is provided a bed frame which is adjustable in width to king size and which at any width has great strength to the end that it has utility not only for beds with conventional bedding but also for water beds. The bed frame has longitudinal side rails and a longitudinal center rail, transverse end rails and a transverse center rail, the end rails and transverse center rail all being of adjustable length so as to enable adjustment of the bed to different widths and all being substantially coplanar with the longitudinal side rails and center rail, the bed having nine support legs one of which is directly underneath the connection between the transverse and longitudinal center rails and the other eight of which are adjacent the other connections between the transverse and longitudinal rails.

  • Patent number: 4192028
Abstract: In accordance with the invention there is provided a bed frame with end rails of adjustable length, each of the end rails including an inner rail member having horizontal and vertical flanges in nested relationship with an outer rail member having horizontal and vertical flanges, the vertical flange of the inner rail member having a plurality of spaced openings arranged in a line longitudinally of the inner rail member and the vertical flange of the outer rail member having a projection adapted to fit into any one of said openings, the outer rail member also having secured thereto a lock member pivotable to a lock position or to an unlock position, the lock member having a U-shaped portion adapted to straddle and hold together the vertical flanges of the inner and outer rail members when the projection is in one of said openings and the lock member is in its lock position, the lock member also including a portion for preventing accidental movement of the lock member from its lock position to its unlock positi

  • Patent number: 4135266
Abstract: An adjustable angle iron bed frame has interfitting end rails which are retained in preadjusted assembled positions by generally U-shaped wire clips which extend diagonally through the respective backs and sides of the interfitted end rails to capture the inner and outer rails together in predetermined adjusted position.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThis invention relates to adjustable folding bed frames of the Hollywood type in which the end rails are formed from angle iron material. The end rails are pivotally attached to their respective side rails and are adjustably interfitted or connected one with the other and secured by a locking or attaching means at preselected, spaced-apart widths of the side rails.

  • Patent number: 4103374
Abstract: A leg construction for a folding bed frame is disclosed in which a sheet metal leg is received generally within the confines of an angle iron end rail and is secured to the inside surface of the end rail. An upper portion of the leg is supported in underlying relation to the horizontal member of the end rail for additional support. An integral tab on the leg extends upwardly through a slot in the end rail and provides a positive stop for engagement with the adjacent pivotally attached side rail to define a right angled position between the end and side rails.
