  • Patent number: 7967027
Abstract: A diverter valve includes a housing and a diverting stem cartridge. The housing has a top and a bottom and a stem cartridge receiving chamber. The housing also has an inlet port proximate the bottom thereof and a plurality of laterally directed outlet ports. Each outlet port directs water to selective alternative uses such as a spout, shower, body spray or the like. The stem cartridge also has an inlet port proximate the bottom and has a plurality of laterally directed outlet ports for selective alignment with the outlet ports of the housing. The inlet ports and outlet ports of said stem cartridge has there-between a stem waterway to allow water to flow from the inlet to said outlets. The cartridge has contained therein at least two checking mechanisms disposed prior to the waterway. The at least two check mechanisms prevents water from the outlet ports from contaminating the water supply.

  • Patent number: 7578309
Abstract: A universal kinetic diverting spout post assembly for mounting in a vertical orientation in a roman tub or deck installation is provided. The assembly includes a valve body containing a replaceable diverting cartridge into which hot and cold water are fed. The cartridge also includes a spring biased plunger assembly normally closing the outlet to a second use, such as a spray, when water normally passes through the spout to a tub and until such time as a diverting mechanism, either in response to a predetermined pressure rise in the spout when water exiting the spout is prevented, or as a direct result of the user lifting the plunger assembly. In either alternative the plunger assembly rises off it's seat and as a result closes the water path to the spout and at the same time opens the normally closed outlet to the spray and allows water to pass to the outlet. The assembly also includes a flow regulator proximate the spray outlet to prevent overpressure in a supply hose and excessive water flow therein.

  • Publication number: 20080053528
Abstract: A simplified diaphragm pressure balancing valve assembly is claimed with a body having inlet and outlet water ports selectively connected to supply a shower or a spout. The body includes a cylindrical opening to receive a cartridge assembly including inlet and outlet parts for alignment with the inlet and outlet ports of the body. A compact stationary pressure balancing device is provided, to avoid scalding of a bather, which remains stationary when the valve is operated. The assembly includes a disc assembly which is selectively moveable in relation to each of the sealed hot and cold water outlet ports, allowing water to pass out of the cartridge, exiting the valve to a spout or a shower. Supplementary members of the housing, for example a trim nut and body nut, are provided to ensure a press fit between the members and the disc.

  • Patent number: 6325089
Abstract: This valve uses a rotatable balancing chamber to control the waterflow into the balancing chamber. A pair of exit ports on the rotatable balancing chamber are in communication with the balancing chambers on either side of a diaphragm equipped shuttle to control the outlet mixture of hot and cold water. The diaphragm equipped shuttle responds to changes in pressure in the respective balance chambers to throttle the water through the valve in response to changes in inlet pressures. The pressure balancing chambers are isolated from the water supplies feeding the valve when the valve is in the “off” position, and the pressure balancing chambers are pre-pressurized before any water is permitted to exit from the valve.
