  • Patent number: 9945469
Abstract: A straight bevel gear having a gear body that includes a first set of gear teeth and at least one web. The set of gear teeth may have a spherical involute configuration. The web may extend between adjacent members of the set of gear teeth such that the web may be completely and continuously curved in multiple directions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 6, 2017
Date of Patent: April 17, 2018
    Assignee: ArvinMeritor Technology, LLC

  • Patent number: 7047838
Abstract: A transfer case assembly includes an input gear, an idler gear, and an output gear. The idler gear is mounted on an idler shaft, which is rotatably supported by a bearing retained within a carrier. The carrier fits within an arcuate slot. The arcuate slot defines a multiple of idler shaft predetermined mounting locations. Each of the idler shaft predetermined mounting locations are equidistant from the third axis, and vary in distance from the first axis. For each of the idler shaft predetermined mounting locations a gear, of a predetermined size is provided to achieve a proper gear mesh for the desired gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 6431298
Abstract: A vehicle drive unit assembly includes a rear drive axle extending between a pair of vehicle wheels. An input shaft is operably connected to the drive axle to provide torque to the drive axle to drive the vehicle wheels. An electric motor is connected to the input shaft and is mounted above the drive axle. Preferably, the electric motor is mounted adjacent to the differential in the drive axle. A reduction gear box or chain drive assembly interconnects the electric motor to the input on the drive axle to reduce the input speed to the axle from the motor.

  • Patent number: 5878830
Abstract: An improved mount for an electric motor and drive gear includes mounting both of the motor and drive gear within a gear housing for a vehicle wheel. The motor is mounted on one side of the drive axis of the wheel, and the drive gear is mounted in bearings on an opposed side of the drive axis. In this way, the overall longitudinal distance required for mounting both the motor and the drive gear is reduced when compared to the envelope of the vehicle wheel.
