Publication number: 20220363511Abstract: A method generates, by a control system, mutually synchronized control signals to an elevator system residing in a building and to at least one mobile robot operating in the building. The method includes: receiving a service request from an external system; detecting that an accomplishment of a requested service requires a service from both the elevator system and the at least one mobile robot; generating a first control signal to the elevator system and a second control signal to the at least mobile robot, the control signals causing the elevator system and the at least one mobile robot to operate in a synchronized manner to accomplish a service. The invention also relates to a control system and a computer program product.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2022Publication date: November 17, 2022Applicant: KONE CorporationInventors: Emil HAGSTRÖM, Juha-Matti KUUSINEN, Simo MÄKIMATTILA

Patent number: 9682845Abstract: A rope load detecting device for detecting total rope load in multiple elevator ropes, includes a frame held on the multiple elevator ropes, and a force sensing element. The frame includes a tension beam, a first and second connecting bars, a movable member and a supporting beam, one end of the first and second connecting bars is fixed to the tension beam, the other end is fixed to the supporting beam, one end of the movable member is connected to the tension beam, the other end freely passes the supporting beam. The frame is configured to enable the part of each elevator rope passing through the first and second connecting bars and the movable member of the frame to be bent so that enable the force caused by each loaded elevator rope to act on the force sensing element by means of the movable member of the frame, whereby the total rope load in multiple elevator ropes can be detected by a single force sensing element.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2016Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: KONE CORPORATIONInventor: Simo Mäkimattila

Patent number: 9428364Abstract: An elevator may include: drive machine, hoisting ropes, traction sheave, elevator car, counterweight, and elevator car and counterweight guide rails. The drive machine may engage the hoisting ropes using the traction sheave. The hoisting ropes may support the elevator car on the elevator car guide rails and the counterweight on the counterweight guide rails. The hoisting ropes may include coated hoisting ropes of substantially circular cross-section. The hoisting ropes may have a load-bearing part twisted from steel wires of circular, non-circular, or circular and non-circular cross-section. A cross-sectional area of the steel wires may be less than about 0.2 mm2. A strength of the steel wires may be greater than about 2000 N/mm2. A core of each hoisting rope may include the load-bearing part. The core may be coated with a substantially thin sheath that forms a surface of the hoisting rope. The sheath may be softer than the core.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2004Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Assignee: KONE CORPORATIONInventors: Esko Aulanko, Jorma Mustalahti, Pekka Rantanen, Simo Mäkimattila

Patent number: 7527127Abstract: In the invention a method is presented for ensuring operating safety in an elevator system, an elevator system, and a safety device of an elevator system. The elevator system includes at least an elevator car, elevator ropes, an elevator motor, a traction sheave and at least two holding brakes, which holding brakes are arranged to prevent movement of the elevator car when the elevator is stopped. According to the invention the first holding brake is engaged at the end of an elevator run, and the other holding brakes are engaged with a delay. When one holding brake is engaged, the state of motion of the elevator and any slipping of the brake is monitored. If the brake is detected as slipping, a procedure for preventing a hazardous situation is performed.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2008Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Kone CorporationInventors: Jari Österman, Seppo Suur-Askola, Jarmo Myllynen, Simo Mäkimattila, Jukka Korpela, Joni Kiiski
