  • Patent number: 11911767
Abstract: Described are exemplary embodiments of a syringe identification system for use with a positive displacement pipette, such as a handheld powered positive displacement pipette. An exemplary syringe identification system may include a sensor, such as a color sensor, that is located at or near a distal end of the pipette and arranged such that the sensor is operative to read an identifying marking(s) on a syringe that has been installed to the pipette. The sensor may be a color sensor having an illumination source and configured to read a color code on the syringe. The color code may be usable to identify the syringe to the pipette.

  • Publication number: 20230266459
Abstract: Described are examples of a method and a system for locating and identifying an object in a search space. The method may be used to determine the presence, identity and relative location of a consumable item. The method uses an array of RFID antennas to interrogate the search space in which one or more objects having an attached RFID tag may be present. The RFID antennas transmit RF signals into the search space and detect RFID reply signals from RFID tags. RFID antennas can be operated at different receiver sensitivity gains or transmit power gains to define additional cell locations within the search space. The identity and location of the objects is determined from the detected RFID reply signals. In various applications, the location is determined in a linear search space, a two-dimensional search space or a three-dimensional search space according to array configuration and gain implementation.

  • Patent number: 7653010
Abstract: According to an embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed a method of operating a wireless mesh network. The method comprises: seeding the network from a first node; allocating a network address to each member node of the network to form a tree-like structure of the nodes, such that the network address is reversibly derived from the network address of the member node from which it is derived in the tree-like structure; and mapping out cross-branch network connections between nodes that are determined not to be immediate neighbour nodes according to the addresses of the tree-like structure. Further related system embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7023147
Abstract: A circuit used to control the brightness of a number of light emitting diodes (LEDs) in an array, such that the color and brightness of the light produced by the array may be varied. The circuit is optimized to operate at high efficiency, permitting its use in confined spaces with poor cooling. The circuit permits a variety of configurations of LEDs to be controlled and driven from a range of line voltages. The circuit is further optimized to use few components to achieve its function.
