  • Patent number: 9410700
Abstract: Burner for a furnace comprising at least one supply channel for supplying an oxidizing medium and a plurality of peripheral fuel supply channels, wherein the channels have exit openings arranged adjacent each other at a burner end surface for forming during use upon reaction of supplied fuel with supplied oxidizing medium a flame front, wherein the exit openings are asymmetrically arranged with respect to any plane arranged transverse to the end surface of the burner and extending through a burner central axis whereby the distribution of the fuel exit openings and/or the dimension of the fuel exit openings and/or the exit angle of the fuel exit openings and/or the shape of the fuel exit openings are arranged asymmetrically to said any plane, such that during use a flame front is created that is asymmetrical with respect to said any plane.

  • Patent number: 7964091
Abstract: A cracking furnace having a firebox provided with cracking coils is described. The cracking coils have at least one inlet, at least one inlet section, at least one outlet and at least one outlet section, and burners, and the parts of the coils are shielded. A process for cracking hydrocarbon feeds, and making use of a furnace with the thermal shielding are also described.

  • Publication number: 20080142411
Abstract: The present invention refers to a novel type of cracking furnaces comprising a firebox provided with cracking coils—the cracking coils having at least one inlet, at least one inlet section, at least one outlet and at least one outlet section—and burners, wherein the parts of the coils are shielded. The invention further relates to a process for cracking hydrocarbon feeds, making use of a furnace according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 5670703
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process and an installation for the production of liquid fuels and raw chemicals from crude petroleum within the framework of a refinery process with process steps for distillation, thermal and/or catalytic cracking, and possibly reformation. The refinery process is directly supplemented by various process steps, i.e. a partial flow of the C.sub.4 components together with a flow of methanol or ethanol is subjected to a catalytic reaction, the unconverted n-butane-containing portion of the components is subjected to isomerization, a part of the isobutane is subjected to a thermal cracking process, and finally the product flow emerging therefrom is guided back, in its entirety or in part, into the fractionation stage for splitting.

  • Patent number: 5501878
Abstract: A process for reducing the carbonization of the heat exchange surfaces in a tubular heat exchanger of boiler steel which, in particular, within a unit for the thermal cracking of hydrocarbons to alkenes and while producing steam, carries out the rapid cooling of the cracking products after they leave the cracking furnace. After the tubular heat exchanger is cleaned and before it is returned to service, the sides of the heat exchange surfaces which come into contact with the cracking products are treated under reducing conditions until the greatest possible reduction of the Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 on the surface to Fe.sub.3 O.sub.4 has taken place, without submicron Fe powder being formed.
