  • Patent number: 12694479
Abstract: A system and method for creating a composite retinal thickness map of an eye, including collecting, by an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device, a set of a plurality of optical coherence tomography (OCT) volume scans of the eye. At least one set of the plurality of OCT volume scans is collected by the OCT device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 2022
Date of Patent: July 28, 2026
    Assignee: CARL ZEISS MEDITEC, INC.
Inventors: Homayoun Bagherinia, Conor Leahy, Simon Bello
  • Publication number: 20250031957
Abstract: The present System/Method/Device uses a (e.g., self-use) OCT system for personalized monitoring of wet AMD patients. A patient self-administers an OCT scan, which is then automatically analyzed and notifies the patient and/or a designated authorized doctor/technician if there is a need for application of medication or professional medical attention.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 23, 2022
    Publication date: January 30, 2025
Applicants: Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., Carl Zeiss Meditec AG
Inventors: Mahsa Darvishzadeh Varcheie, Simon Bello
  • Patent number: 11998272
Abstract: After OCT scans are acquired, error compensation is be applied anew by identifying motion tracking data that was collected simultaneously with (or closest in time to) each acquired OCT scan. The effects of any previously applied motion tracking information is removed from an OCT scan before applying the new motion tracking data, which may provide higher resolution motion tracking.

Abstract: A system and method for creating a composite retinal thickness map of an eye, including collecting, by an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device, a set of a plurality of optical coherence tomography (OCT) volume scans of the eye. At least one set of the plurality of OCT volume scans is collected by the OCT device by: segmenting a target upper retinal layer and a target lower retinal layer which is lower than the target upper retinal layer within an OCT volume scan; determining a thickness map of a candidate between the upper retinal layer and lower retinal layer, and a confidence map associated with the thickness map; selecting at least one thickness map as a reference thickness map; registering at least one thickness map to the reference thickness map; and selectively combining a region of the thickness map with a corresponding region of the reference thickness map to define a composite retinal thickness map.
