  • Patent number: 12227105
Abstract: A method for determining a derating factor for a rechargeable energy storage system. The derating factor is indicative of the rate at which an electrical load, imparted on said rechargeable energy storage system, is reduced, said rechargeable energy storage system being associated with at least a first load threshold and at least a second load threshold being located further away from a zero electrical load value than the first load threshold. The method includes determining a safety margin value by combining an accumulated first load value and an accumulated second load value and relating the thus combined values with said operating time range, and comparing said safety margin value to at least one safety margin threshold value in order to determine whether or not said derating factor should be modified.

  • Publication number: 20240416891
Abstract: A computer system is provided. Processing circuitry is configured to determine at least one vehicle system being in an active mode, said at least one vehicle system building up a need for conditioning when in the active mode and/or in an inactive mode, determine that no request for usage of the at least one vehicle system is present, thereby triggering a request for shut down of said at least one vehicle system, determine a need for conditioning of said at least one vehicle system, delay shut down of said at least one vehicle system, and initiate conditioning of said at least one vehicle system.

  • Publication number: 20240101101
Abstract: An energy management system (EMS) comprising a control unit for controlling charging of an energy storage system (ESS). The control unit is configured to obtain, from the ESS, a parameter representing a charge ability (P/Ic) of the ESS and a parameter representing an actual charging power (P/Ia) measured by the ESS; compare the actual charging power or current (P/Ia) with a current value of the charge ability (P/Ic); adjust the current value of charge ability (P/Ic) based on the comparing result; and provide the adjusted value of charge ability (P/Ic,adj) to a power-to-mechanical conversion unit for generating one or more control signals based on the adjusted value of charge ability (P/Ic,adj) for controlling charging power delivered by one or more electric machines.

  • Publication number: 20230020971
Abstract: A method for controlling power transfer from a grid to a rechargeable energy storage system, RESS, and/or an auxiliary load of the vehicle, via at least one intermediate power transfer component. The method comprises providing predicted operational information of the vehicle, the predicted operational information comprising a connected time period in which the vehicle is connected to the grid, providing component data comprising power transfer characteristic of the intermediate power transfer component, the component data including at least the critical temperature limit of the intermediate power transfer component, transferring power from the grid to the RESS and/or from the grid to the auxiliary load of the vehicle according to a power transfer model, such that the temperature of the intermediate power transfer component is kept at least below the critical temperature limit.

  • Publication number: 20220001848
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for power management of an electrically powered vehicle (100), wherein at least two loads (230, 240), including a first load (230) and at least one second load (240), are by default powered by an electric energy storage system (220) of the vehicle according to a first prioritization strategy determining how power is distributed among the at least two loads (230, 240). The method comprises detecting (101) that a pre-defined operating condition applies, and in response to said detection, activating (102) a second prioritization strategy, wherein, according to the second prioritization strategy, power distribution to the first load is prioritized over power distribution to the at least one second load. The invention also relates to a power management control unit (210), a power system (200) and an electrically powered vehicle (300) comprising the power management control unit (210) and/or the power system (200).
