Publication number: 20240055868Abstract: An electrical system and method for supplying electricity to a dwelling on a residential site. An energy management system selectively stores energy in an energy store and selects energy from at least one of a wind power system, a solar power system and a mains electrical source. The energy management system is arranged to: obtain weather data; estimate the amount of electricity the wind power system will generate; estimate the amount of electricity the solar power system will generate; estimate the amount of electrical energy the dwelling will require; determine a strategy for meeting the estimated energy requirements and using electricity; and control operation of an electric vehicle charger to selectively supply electricity from an electric vehicle battery to a consumer unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2021Publication date: February 15, 2024Inventors: Karl HICK, Simon EVANS

Patent number: 11555658Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for converting a passive cooling system into an active hydronic ground cooling system. In an aspect, an existing passive cooling device can be first discharged of working fluid. An existing pipe of the passive cooling system can then be cut to a predetermined height. A top portion of the existing pipe can be threaded and fitted with a cap base. Tubing can then be installed within the existing pipe. A cap can be attached to the cap base. The tubing can be attached to a chiller system and filled with coolant. Similar procedure can be applied to convert a thermopile or traditional pipe pile to into an active cooling system.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2015Date of Patent: January 17, 2023Assignee: University of Alaska AnchorageInventors: Zhaohui Yang, Simon Evans, Gregory McConnell

Patent number: 10866493Abstract: The herein described invention is a camera mounting system where the user can safely install a camera high in a tree without having to leave the ground. The camera mounting system is comprised of a tree attachment, ball mount, and camera mount. The system is installed by using an extension pole with releasable capture means for installation and removal of the system. This system is also comprised of a multi-mount adapter, which allows a user to install multiple wire connected mounted components on one tree attachment, or in different elevated positions. Once installed, a camera can be accurately aimed by using a laser attachment and standard laser pen light. This system is further comprised of a saw attachment, which can be used to clear branches from the installation area of the tree being utilized.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2018Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Inventors: Michael S. Patent number: 10215682Abstract: A method and device is disclosed for measuring one or more physical properties of, and/or induced by, out-gassing products released from and/or trapped within a joint in response to a lightning strike or other electrical current threat. A device for measuring one or more physical properties of, and/or induced by, gases, plasma and/or particles released from a joint in response to an electrical current threat. The joint includes a fastener passing through a structure so that an end of the fastener protrudes from the structure. The device includes a containment member having a base surrounding an opening into a cavity, the containment member being arranged to be mounted over the end of the fastener to enclose the end of the fastener within the cavity and to seal the opening; and one or more sensors arranged to measure physical properties of gases, plasma and/or particles contained by the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2015Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Assignees: AIRBUS OPERATIONS LIMITED, AIRBUS GROUP LIMITED, AIRBUS OPERATIONS (S.A.S.)Inventors: Richard E. Patent number: 10191357Abstract: A two-piece mounting system for a trail camera has a support with a fitting that is placed high in a tree on a tree branch. The support with an auger anchor is driven into the tree branch with an extension pole equipped with a companion fitting. The auger has a releasable spring-loaded turn-to-lock capture means to capture and hold a utility bar. The utility bar, like the auger support, is placed and attached to the support with the extension pole. The utility bar receives a universal camera mount attached to the bar through a swivel. The camera mount and swivel have an adjustment bar that has a fitting that can be received by the extension pole fitting, so once placed in the tree, the camera angle can be adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2016Date of Patent: January 29, 2019Inventors: Michael S.
