  • Publication number: 20020183623
Abstract: First and second optical-redirectors mounted on a catheter couple radiation to a target along separate first and second paths. Either the first or second optical-redirectors, or both, can include a steering mechanism for selecting the first and/or second path.

  • Publication number: 20020183620
Abstract: An apparatus includes a feedback loop for controlling an extent of a gap between a wall of a balloon mounted on a catheter and a wall of a lumen into which the catheter is inserted. The apparatus includes a radiation detector mounted within the balloon for generating a feedback signal having information indicative of whether the extent of the gap is greater than or less than a desired value. The feedback loop receives the feedback signal and controls a size of the balloon to cause the extent of the gap to approach the desired value.

  • Publication number: 20020173840
Abstract: A bifurcated stent comprises a first stent section and a second stent section. Each stent section is expandable from a predeployed state to a deployed state independently from one another. The second stent section having an end engaged to a receiving region of the first stent section. In the deployed state the first stent section defines a primary flow path and the second stent section defines a secondary flow path in fluid communication with the first flow path. At least a portion of one or both the first stent section and second stent section is constructed from a wire member.

  • Publication number: 20010053932
Abstract: A conduit is provided to provide a bypass around a blockage in the coronary artery. The conduit is adapted to be positioned in the myocardium or heart wall to provide a passage for blood to flow between a chamber of the heart such as the left ventricle and the coronary artery, distal to the blockage. The stent is self-expanding or uses a balloon to expand the stent in the heart wall. Various attachment means are provided to anchor the stent and prevent its migration.
