  • Patent number: 8052145
Abstract: A document handling apparatus is disclosed which is particularly well adapted for counting documents of value, such as banknotes. The document handling apparatus comprises an input module for receiving a stack of documents and feeding them one by one into the apparatus, a detector box which houses a series of detectors for detecting characteristics of the documents, a transport system for conveying documents within the apparatus, a doubles detector for sensing the passage of each document therethrough and a stacker module for stacking the output documents and presenting them to the user. The apparatus is based on a metal framework in a plastics housing.

  • Patent number: 4968015
Abstract: Sheet feeding apparatus for example for use as a banknote counter comprises a stripper system having a pair of rollers; and a banknote detection system including two pairs of rollers defining respective nips into which single notes are fed by the stripper system. The relative deflection of the sheet detection system rollers due to the passage of a sheet through the nips is monitored in use. The stripper system rollers and the rollers of the sheet detection system are substantially coaxially mounted on a shaft and are driven by a common drive motor.

  • Patent number: 4867431
Abstract: Sheet feeding apparatus such as a cash dispenser comprises a first transport system having feed rollers (5), separation rollers (6), and a contra-rotating roller (7); a second transport system comprising a pair of belts (11, 12); and a diverter (25) positioned between the two transport systems. The diverter is movable between a first position in which sheets may be conveyed from the first transport system to the second transport system and a second position in which sheets may be conveyed upon reverse movement of the second transport system past the diverter (25) and away from the first transport system. The diverter is biassed towards its second position and is movable towards its first position in response to engagement of the diverter by a sheet fed towards the diverter by the first transport system. The first transport system withdraws sheets from a store (1) having a lid (34) which provides a dump into which rejected sheets are fed upon reverse movement of the second transport system.

  • Patent number: 4690604
Abstract: Apparatus for conveying rod-like articles between a delivery device (M), e.g. a cigarette maker, and a receiving device (P), e.g. a cigarette packer, includes a conveyor (C) for articles in stack formation, a container loading device (TF), a container unloading device (TU), and a container handling system (TS) for moving containers between the devices. The container loading and unloading devices (TF, TU) may be in non-parallel orientations and the container handling system (TS) may include a common container reservoir (ER, FR) and a container turning device (FTT, ETT). The container loading and unloading devices (TF, TU) may be linked to the main conveyor (C) by subsidiary conveyors (CTF, CTU) which include a twisting path portion (SC).
