  • Patent number: 4833761
Abstract: A jewelry clasp comprising an angled portion which is subject to stress as a result of the weight of the jewelry to which it is attached, is provided with at least one reinforcement rib positioned and configured to increase the tensile strength of the angled portion. A method of forming a jewelry clasp having at least one reinforcement rib, and attachment means thereon for attachment of the jewelry to the clasp. The attachment menas is secured to the jewelry by soldering such that the solder flows into the corresponding groove formed on the outside of the angled portion thereby anchoring the solder connection, and strengthening the at least one reinforcement rib itself.

  • Patent number: 4813108
Abstract: Clasp for connecting one end of a piece of jewelry to the other and includes a tongue member and a box member. The tongue member has a base with opposite edges, a front end, and a transverse attachment portion at the rear end for attachment to one end of the piece of jewelry. The box member has a base with a front end and with opposite upstanding side walls, and a transverse attachment portion connecting the side walls at the front end for attachment to the other end of the piece of jewelry. The attachment portion of the box member forms a transverse opening wide enough to receive the front end of the base of the tongue member. Each member is constructed and arranged such that the opposite edges of the tongue member slideably engage the upstanding side walls of the box member when the front end of the tongue member is inserted into the opening. The tongue member is provided with a pair of resilient detents integral with and defining the edges of the base.

  • Patent number: 4426854
Abstract: A jewelry clasp for a jewelry band having chain-link terminals comprises releasably interlockable male and female clasp members. Slip-on connection means are rigidly secured to the distal ends of the male and female members to provide a solderless arrangement for attaching the chain-link terminals of the clasp. Each slip-on connection means is formed from a helix having approximately 11/2 coiled turns so as to form an entrance opening into which the chain-link terminal can be inserted into linking engagement and secured without soldering or special tools. A rectangular blank for making the male clasp member includes an end notch for receiving the helix to be rigidly secured and a laterally projecting leg adjacent thereto adapted to become bulbous when heated and thus form the pin portion of a safety latch.

  • Patent number: 4170809
Abstract: A jewelry clasp for a slender, elongated, band--e.g., a necklace, bracelet or the like--comprises male and female members respectively attachable to the band terminals; the female member being tubular and the male member having a detent with a projecting tongue and with a spring leaf, constituted by a distal extension thereof, folded to overlie the tongue in angular relation therewith; being deflectible to lie flatly against the tongue to permit its passage through a narrow diametrical slot in an end closure of the female member; said leaf then rising off the tongue in the interior of the female member to engage the inner face of the end closure preventing withdrawal of the male member therefrom and also becoming wedged against the progressively narrowing inner walls of the female member to inhibit wobbling of the male member therein; a fin projecting through a slot in the wall of the female member being manipulable to depress the leaf to permit withdrawal of the detent from the female member.
