  • Patent number: 8577728
Abstract: A display system 10 for displaying information at a point of product display in a retail outlet comprising a communicator 12 for transmitting display information to a remote display module 18, the display module 18 being adapted in a first, low power mode to display information and in a second, higher power mode periodically, in a predetermined manner, to communicate with the communicator 12, the system 10 preferably being configured to enable determination of the accuracy and automated correction of the synchronization of a periodic communication between the communicator 12 and the display module 18 while the display module 18 continues to switch between first and second modes of operation enabling a low overall consumption of power by the display module 18 and more preferably wherein the display module 18 is adapted to switch between first and second power modes between receipt of a synchronization signal and a display information signal from the communicator 12.

  • Publication number: 20040025047
Abstract: The present invention provides a system which uses a number of network nodes (2) which can communicate wire lessly with communications devices (3-8) coupled to the network. The network nodes are all connected to a network server (1) which can be used to provide additional services, such as Internet connection. The system uses at least a local short range radio connection for interconnecting the network nodes (2) to the communications device (3-8), thereby allowing the user of a communications device access to the network from anywhere within range of a suitable network node. This allows network nodes to be located throughout a building, such that a user can have access to the communications network at any location within the building.

  • Publication number: 20020172177
Abstract: The present invention provides a distributed processing system which allows a processing stack, such as a Bluetooth stack, to be split between different locations using a communications link. This enables a transceiver to be located in a position within a building so as to provide wireless connectivity to a specified area, whilst a second portion of the processing stack which allows the wireless connections to be controlled can be positioned at a location remote to the transceiver. This allows centralized processing to be achieved, whilst allowing distributed piconets to provide wireless connectivity to other devices over a wide footprint area.
