  • Publication number: 20180013838
Abstract: Systems and methods for communicating data from off-vehicle data sources to a vehicle are provided. In one embodiment, a method for obtaining data for a vehicle comprises: initiating an information request from on-board a vehicle; formatting the information request onboard the vehicle into a data file format to generate a request file; performing a wireless file transfer of the request file from the vehicle to a data center, wherein the request file is transferred to a file system location; polling the file system location for creation of a response file corresponding to the request file; when the response file is detected within the file system location, retrieving the response file from the data center to the vehicle; and displaying at the vehicle information responsive to the information request from the response file. In some embodiments, the file system location is a file system location uniquely associated with the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9473367
Abstract: Devices, methods and systems are provided for monitoring an aircraft. One exemplary method involves a processing system at a ground location obtaining first information associated with a first region identified by a detection system onboard the aircraft, obtaining second information associated with a second region identified by an external system coupled to the processing system, and displaying a flight tracking image associated with the aircraft that includes a first graphical representation of the first region and a second graphical representation of the second region. • Patent number: 9269272
Abstract: A system and method of monitoring received instrument landing system (ILS) signals onboard an aircraft includes performing a pre-approach sampling of the received ILS signals to thereby generate pre-approach phase ILS data. A statistical approach course of the aircraft is determined based at least in part on the pre-approach phase ILS data. A determination is made as to when the aircraft is below a predetermined activation altitude and, when it is, approach sampling of the received ILS signals is performed to generate approach phase ILS data. The approach phase ILS data is compared to the statistical approach course to determine a course deviation. An alert signal is selectively generated when the course deviation exceeds a predetermined magnitude.

  • Patent number: 7787998
Abstract: A method and device for assisting the lateral control of an aircraft running on a runway employ a detector for measuring a lateral deviation of the aircraft relative to a lateral alignment beam transmitted by a radio transmitter installed on the ground, the lateral deviation representing an angular deviation between a straight line passing through the radio transmitter and the detector and the centerline of the runway. A calculator calculates a first distance, defined along the runway, between the position of the pilot in the cockpit and the radio transmitter. A central unit determines, from the lateral deviation and the first distance, a line intended to correspond with the centerline of the runway. A head up display device displays the line on a display screen, superimposed on the environment existing in front of the aircraft and the centerline of the runway.

  • Patent number: 7397391
Abstract: A method of aiding the piloting of an aircraft during a maneuver, bringing about an increase in the attitude of the aircraft, is carried out automatically and repeatedly. According to the method, an attitude deviation is determined by subtracting a first value of attitude from a determined current attitude of the aircraft. A horizon line is presented on a display screen of a head-up display device, superimposed with the environment seen in front of the aircraft, as is an indication of the attitude deviation. The first value of attitude corresponds to the minimum value of (1) an optimal value of attitude at the end of the maneuver and (2) a value of attitude of protection against a rear collision.
