  • Publication number: 20250214466
Abstract: An on-board communications module configured to enable charging of a propulsion electric energy storage system of a marine vessel using an on-shore combined charging system. The marine vessel has a corrosion protection arrangement, the communications module to galvanically isolate a charging control unit of the marine vessel from a DC electric energy storage system of the marine vessel, the communications module further being configured to galvanically isolate the charging control unit from low-voltage consumers of the marine vessel.

  • Publication number: 20240372357
Abstract: A marine protection circuit includes a first terminal connectable to a ground connection of a marine vessel or a waterborne object and a second terminal connectable to a ground connection of an on-shore power supply. The marine protection circuit is configured to engage when a voltage across the first and the second terminals is above a threshold value. The marine protection circuit is configured to present low resistance between the first and the second terminals when engaged. The marine protection is configured to present high resistance between the first and the second terminals when unengaged.

  • Publication number: 20240326628
Abstract: A computer system comprising a processor device is configured to identify a charging start of the battery provided in an electric marine vessel, actuate, in response to identifying the charging start of the battery, a switch on a protective earth cable from a disconnected state to a connected state, wherein the PE cable is provided between a PE shore connection point on shore and a PE hull connection point on the vessel, initiate charging of the battery via a charging cable connecting the battery on the vessel to a power supply connection point on the shore, identify a charging end of the battery, and actuate, in response to identifying the charging end of the battery, the switch on the PE cable from the connected state to the disconnected state.

  • Publication number: 20240014650
Abstract: A method and a system for cancelling stray currents in a marine electrical supply system, which system comprises a protective earth circuit connecting a vessel to ground when a source of power is connected to the vessel is described. The method involves the steps of monitoring the current in the protective earth circuit using a current sensor; determining if a stray current is detected by the current sensor, and, if a stray current is detected, counteracting the stray current in the protective earth circuit to reduce the stray current to a value at or near zero current.
