    Abstract: Systems and methods for updating software on vehicles are provided. A method for performing a software update on a vehicle includes using a preference of a person of authority over the vehicle as to when to issue a request for an authorization to perform the software update on the vehicle. When the software update is available for the vehicle, the method includes issuing the request for the authorization to perform the software update on the vehicle in accordance with the preference of the person of authority over the vehicle. After receiving the authorization to perform the software update, the method includes initiating the software update on the vehicle.
