  • Publication number: 20220118184
Abstract: The invention relates to a spring driven injection device for expelling doses a liquid drug. A housing structure secures a container containing a liquid drug to be injected via a spring driven dose engine. A needle shield is rotatably relatively to the housing structure between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position the needle shield is prevented from axial movement and in the unlocked position axially movement is possible by applying an axial force onto the needle shield. Axial movement of the needle shield activates the spring driven dose engine to automatically eject the dose of the liquid drug from the container. The needle shield is rotational guided from the locked position to the unlocked position in a track arrangement which is further configured to prevent the needle shield in rotation from the locked position to the unlocked position during application of the axial force to the needle shield.

  • Publication number: 20210260293
Abstract: The invention relates to a pre-filled injection device for apportioning set dose of a liquid drug. The pre-filled injection device is of the type wherein a permanently mounted injection needle is cleaned in a cleaning reservoir between injections. The purpose of the invention is to provide a mechanism by which the cleaning reservoir can be filled with preservative containing liquid drug from the cartridge upon proximal movement of the needle hub in a linear movement.

  • Publication number: 20200360595
Abstract: The invention relates to a medical injection device having a needle cannula for multiple use and which needle cannula is cleaned between subsequent injections. The needle cannula is preferably cleaned at the distal tip in a cleaning assembly having a hollow cleaning chamber with a variable volume. The distal tip of the needle cannula is maintained inside the cleaning chamber between subsequent injections. The cleaning chamber is defined by an inner surface, a distal seal and a proximal seal. In order to increase the volume of the cleaning chamber during filling of the cleaning chamber one of the seals is formed as a movable plunger which is movable in one direction to expand the volume of the cleaning chamber. To release the movable plunger from the inner surface of the hollow cleaning chamber in order to commence the filling of the cleaning chamber, the movable plunger and the inner wall surface of the hollow cleaning chamber are rotatable in relation to each other during filling of the cleaning chamber.

  • Patent number: 10773029
Abstract: The invention relates to a prefilled injection pen for apportioning multiple set doses of a liquid drug. The injection pen comprises a housing assembly with a removable cap rotatable coupled to the housing assembly such that the user has to rotate the removable cap upon mounting and dismounting the removable cap. Rotation of the removable cap initiates a process in which the proximal end of a needle cannula is first inserted into a cartridge permanently embedded in the housing assembly and thereafter moves the cartridge proximally to thereby pump a predetermined amount of the preservative containing liquid drug from the cartridge and into a cleaning chamber carried by an axially movable shield. The needle cannula is mounted in a needle hub which is arranged to follow rotation of the removable cap and guided helically in relation to the housing assembly such that the needle hub is moved proximally upon rotation of the removable cap.

  • Patent number: 10722656
Abstract: The invention relates to a piston rod drive arrangement for an injection device used for self-administration of a plurality of individually set doses. The drive arrangement is made from a first element (10) mating the non-circular cross-section (3) of a piston rod (1) and a second element (20) having an inner thread (21) mating the outer thread of the piston rod. Whenever the first element (10) and the second element (20) are rotated in relation to each other the piston rod (1) is moved in an axial direction. In order to minimise the play in the threaded connection a resilient element (23) is proved to apply a force to the piston rod (1) in a longitudinal direction.

  • Publication number: 20190298935
Abstract: The invention relates to a prefilled injection pen for apportioning multiple set doses of a liquid drug containing a preservative. The injection pen comprises a housing structure which permanently and non-removable secures a cartridge containing the preservative containing liquid drug. The cartridge is connected to a needle cannula which further has a sharp distal tip for penetrating the skin of a user. The distal tip of the needle cannula is concealed by an axially movable needle shield at least between injections. At the distal end of the axially movable needle shield, a cleaning chamber is provided which cleaning chamber contains a volume of the same preservative containing liquid drug as present in the cartridge. The cleaning chamber is further provided with an outlet which is open to the surroundings and through which outlet air and a quantum of the preservative containing liquid drug can escape.

  • Publication number: 20190038842
Abstract: The invention relates to a torsion spring driven injection device for delivering individually set doses of a liquid drug wherein a torsion spring is strained by rotation of a rotatable dose setting element and released by axial movement of a clutch which couples the dose setting element with the drive tube and the drive tube with a piston rod guide driving the piston rod. When straining the torsion spring the clutch is decoupled from a piston rod guide such that the piston rod guide is able to rotate independently and coupled to the dose setting element. During dose expelling the clutch is moved into engagement with the piston rod guide and out of engagement with the dose setting element such that the piston rod guide rotates with the clutch under influence of the torsion spring. The invention further relates to a non-axial movable End-of-Content mechanism preventing the user from setting a dose larger than the content of the injectable liquid drug remaining in the cartridge of the injection device.

  • Patent number: 9901680
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection device for automatic torsion spring driven injection of a liquid drug. The injection device is of the type wherein a telescopically movable needle shield activates the release of the torque of the torsion spring to drive the injection when the needle shield is moved from its extended position to a retracted position. The injection device further has a needle holder carrying the injection needle, which needle holder is axially movable both in relation to the housing and in relation to the needle shield. It is therefore possible to retract the needle shield in relation to the housing and at the same time move the needle holder to its extended position such that the injection needle is presented outside the needle shield thereby providing for easy exchange of the injection needle.

  • Patent number: 9861755
Abstract: The present invention relates to a torsion spring driven injection device for delivering multiple set doses of a liquid drug from a cartridge by moving a plunger forward inside the cartridge. The torsion spring (134) applies a rotational torque onto a drive member (120) engaging a piston rod (115) which is then driven forward by this rotation. The piston rod driver can be coupled and de-coupled from the torsion spring mechanism. In the de-coupled position, the piston rod driver is freely rotatable and can thus rotate if the piston rod is moved axially. A further torsion arrangement (124) is preferably provided such that a torque is build up between the piston rod driver and the housing whenever the piston rod is moved backwards. This torsion arrangement urges the piston rod driver to rotate in a direction bringing the piston rod forward into abutment with the plunger.
