  • Publication number: 20090133636
Abstract: A hummingbird feeder includes a solar panel power source for illuminating a reservoir of liquid hummingbird food so that the hummingbird can find it at night. The solar panel itself preferably hangs below the feeder in a flexible manner so that it can collect the maximum amount of sunlight and swing in the breeze. An LED attached to the solar power source is positioned to illuminate the liquid reservoir from within the reservoir. The parts that comprise the feeder are easily disassembled for washing and cleaning.

  • Patent number: 7377667
Abstract: A light device (10, 30) is described which comprises a first portion (12) configured so as to partially define a housing, the first portion (12) being arranged so as to at least partially pass light therethrough and the first portion (12) including first electrical contacts (46, 48) and a first locking device (50), a light emitting element (15) disposed in the first portion (12) and being electrically connected to the first electrical contacts (46, 48) and a second portion including a battery compartment (56), second electrical contacts (52, 54) arranged so as to be in electrical connection with batteries disposed in the battery compartment during use, and a second locking device (62, 64) engageable with the first locking device (50) so as to releasibly fix the second portion (13) to the first portion (12) during use and thereby close the housing.

  • Patent number: 7336157
Abstract: An illuminated wind indicator that provides visual indication of wind motion even at night. One or more chime members and a pendulum assembly are suspended from a support or housing, and arranged so that the chime members and the pendulum assembly are capable of colliding with each other. In addition, there is a light source situated such that a portion of the pendulum assembly emits light. Power for the light source is provided by a solar cell and a rechargeable battery. A light sensor may be used to automatically detect the ambient light and switch the rechargeable battery from accumulating charge to powering the light when predetermined levels of ambient light are detected. The light source may be a suitable light emitting diode. The pendulum assembly may contain the solar panel. The light source may include a luminescent material.
