Patent number: 11539651Abstract: A tool for controlling message distribution in a cooperative messaging environment (CME). The tool determines an availability of a plurality of messaging resources of a cooperative messaging environment (CME). The tool analyzes metadata associated with a first message from a first message producing application to determine an application property. Responsive to receiving a request from a first message consuming application to distribute the first message, the tool associates a first messaging resource of the CME with the first message consuming application. The tool distributes the first message to the first messaging resource of the CME from the first message producing application based, at least in part, on the availability of the plurality of messaging resources of the CME and the application property.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2022Date of Patent: December 27, 2022Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Simon Page, Sean Cawood

Patent number: 11310187Abstract: Proposed are concepts for controlling message distribution in a cooperative messaging environment, CME. The method includes determining an availability of each of a plurality of messaging resources of the CME, each of the plurality of messaging resources being associated with one or more message consuming applications. The method further includes determining an application property for each of the one or more message consuming applications associated with each of the plurality of messaging resources. The method further includes controlling a distribution of a message from a message producing application to at least one of the plurality of messaging resources based, at least in part, on metadata associated with the message, the availability of each of the plurality of messaging resources, and the application property for each of the one or more message consuming applications associated with each of the plurality of messaging resources.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2020Date of Patent: April 19, 2022Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Simon Page, Sean Cawood

Patent number: 10795721Abstract: In a transfer of tasks between devices in a network, a failing device determines that it will not complete a task. The failing device compares the requirements of the task with sets of device capabilities on a device list, where each set is associated with a device in the network. The failing device determines that the requirements of the task matches, a set of device capabilities associated with a given device, and in response, sends a request to transfer the given task to the given device. When a rejection of the request is received, the failing device compares the requirements of the task with remaining sets of device capabilities on the device list, determines that the requirements of the task matches a second set of device capabilities associated with a second given device, and in response, sends a second request to transfer the task to the second given device.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2018Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Andrew Dunnings, Simon Page, Joseph Payne, Andrew Hurt, Eunjin Lee

Patent number: 8481931Abstract: The present invention provides an electron spectroscopy apparatus (12) comprising a high energy particle source (12) for irradiating a sample, an electron detector system (16) (e.g. including a delay line detector) for detecting electrons emitted from the sample and an ion gun (8) for delivering a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) ion beam to the sample, wherein the ion gun comprises a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon ion source, for example comprising coronene. In an embodiment, the PAH is located in a heated chamber (22) and vaporised to produce gas phase PAH. The gas phase PAH molecules are then ionised by electron impact, extracted from the ion source via an extraction field and focussed using ion optics. The PAH ion beam can be used for surface cleaning and depth analysis.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2009Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: Kratos Analytical LimitedInventor: Simon Page

Publication number: 20060060770Abstract: A charged particle (e.g. photoelectron) spectrometer is operable in a first mode to produce an energy spectrum relating to the composition of a sample being analysed, and in a second mode to produce a charged particle image of the surface of the sample being analysed. A detector is used to detect charged particles produced in both modes of operation. A method of operation of the spectrometer includes the step of selecting which of said first and second modes to use and the detector being operated accordingly.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2003Publication date: March 23, 2006Applicant: Kratos Analytical LimitedInventors: Simon Page, Colin Park, Christopher Hopper
