    Abstract: A method is disclosed for routing a telephone call over a computer network such as the internet. On determination that the call is to be handled in this way, temporary computer network addresses are allocated to the calling party and called party by their respective local exchanges. The calling party local exchange determines the computer network address of the called party local exchange from a dedicated server.
