  • Patent number: 5516437
Abstract: A fabric softening composition comprising a water insoluble cationic fabric softening agent and a nonionic stabilizing agent wherein the water insoluble cationic fabric softening agent is a quaternary ammonium material and the nonionic stabilizing agent is preferably selected from a predominantly linear C.sub.8 to C.sub.22 alcohol alkoxylated with 10 or more moles of alkylene oxide. The nonionic stabilizing agent may also be a C.sub.10 to C.sub.20 alcohol or mixtures thereof. For high temperature stability the nonionic stability agent is an alkoxylated alcohol having a clear phase at a 1% concentration in water somewhere in the range of 0.degree. C. and 45.degree. C. and a Krafft point of less than 30.degree. C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 30, 1994
Date of Patent: May 14, 1996
Assignee: Levers Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Simon R. Ellis, Graham A. Turner

  • Patent number: 5164100
Abstract: The present invention pertains to fabric softener compositions comprising a surfactant, a fatty acid and a polymeric whitening agent which contains both a fluorescent portion and a hydrophilic portion. Applicants have shown that the polymers can be used in (1) softener compositions wherein biodegradable cationic surfactants are used; and (2) in concentrated softener compositions (i.e., compositions containing 40-80% fabric softener). In concentrated compositions, desirably the use of FFA is minimized or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5041142
Abstract: The subject invention relates to bleaching compositions comprising novel peroxymetallate bleach activators. The bleaching compositions comprise:(i) from about 1 to 60% of a peroxygen compound capable of yielding hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution; and(ii) from about 0.1 to about 30% of a bleach activator having the formula:MO.sub.5 (XR)(X.sub.1 R.sub.1)wherein M is molybdenum or tungsten; X and X.sub.1 are donor groups having available at least one pair of electrons; and R and R.sub.1 are each a radical selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, arylalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, and mixtures thereof.
