  • Patent number: 8424885
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an electronic equipment enclosure that provides directed airflow only to those volumes within the enclosure that require the airflow. The electronic equipment enclosure further provides protection from contaminants such as falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, hose-directed water, and ice. A pedestal may be coupled to the electronic equipment enclosure that facilitates movement of the electronic equipment enclosure via a pallet jack, forklift, front loader, or similar jacking device. A sidecar may also be coupled to one or more sides of the electronic equipment enclosure to facilitate vertically mounted equipment within the sidecar.

  • Publication number: 20130081778
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a close-coupled cooling system provides an equipment rack that includes at least one heat exchanger in close proximity to electrical components contained within the equipment rack. The heat exchanger receives inlet water at a selected temperature to adjust a cooling capacity of the heat exchanger to maintain an adequate cooling capacity of the heat exchanger to reject heat generated within the equipment rack. Exhaust water from the heat exchanger may be cooled by a heat rejection source, blended with cooled water from a heat rejection source, and/or blended with cooled water from the heat rejection source and a chiller to achieve the desired inlet water temperature to the heat exchanger. A substantially zero-bypass, differential pressure air-flow system may be used in conjunction with the heat exchanger to further adjust a cooling capacity of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 7628409
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an electronic equipment rack that provides mobility through directional self-propulsion and multi-axis suspension. The electronic equipment rack further provides self-powered operation and environmental control with wireless access, while protecting against unauthorized access, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and dust contamination. An alternate embodiment provides a non-mobile electronic equipment rack with multi-axis suspension, while optionally providing wireless access and protection against unauthorized access and the environment.
