  • Publication number: 20170348486
Abstract: A device for administering a fluid medicament by injection comprises a dosing portion (1) with a collapsible reservoir (10). The reservoir (10) has a maximum volume in an extended state and a minimum volume in a collapsed state. Prior to injection, the reservoir (10) is in the extended state and contains a liquid to be administered, and the reservoir (10) is biased towards the collapsed state. The device further comprises a needle (2), wherein a lumen (20) of the needle (2) is in fluid communication with the reservoir (10). The device further comprises a shield portion (3) with a plug (30). Prior to injection, the shield portion (3) is in a deployed position where the plug (30) blocks the lumen (20) of the needle (2). The shield portion (3) is adapted to move in response to an actuation force from the deployed position to a retracted position where the lumen (20) of the needle (2) is open, thereby causing the reservoir (10) to shift to the collapsed state to expel the liquid through the needle.

  • Patent number: 8747363
Abstract: A medical device is provided comprising a transcutaneous device unit and a process unit. The transcutaneous device unit may comprise a transcutaneous device for transporting a fluid through a skin portion of a subject, and a mounting surface adapted for application to the skin of the subject. The process unit may comprise a reservoir adapted to contain a fluid drug, the reservoir comprising an outlet means allowing the transcutaneous device to be arranged in fluid communication with an interior of the reservoir, and an expelling assembly for expelling a fluid drug out of the reservoir and through the skin of the subject via the transcutaneous device. The transcutaneous device unit and the process unit further comprise coupling means allowing the reservoir unit to be secured to the transcutaneous device unit in the situation of use. By this arrangement a two-unit system is provided which can be used in a convenient and cost-effective manner.

  • Patent number: 8167841
Abstract: A medical device is provided comprising a cannula having a distal portion adapted to be arranged through the skin of the subject, and an outer needle arranged coaxially with and being axially moveable relative to the cannula, the needle comprising a pointed distal end, wherein the device is adapted for advancing the cannula with the distal end of the needle projecting there from through the dermis of the subject, and subsequently retract the needle.

  • Publication number: 20110259774
Abstract: The invention provides an assembly comprising a cover and a device arranged fully or partly in the cover. The device comprises a first portion, and a second portion moveable relative to the first portion between an initial and an actuated position, and the cover comprises a cavity portion and a closure portion which together form an enclosure in which the device is arranged initially. Movement of the closure portion from an initial position in a first direction results in the second portion of the device being moved in a second direction between the initial and the actuated position, the first direction being different from the second direction. By this arrangement it is possible to provide a cover-device assembly which is easy and intuitive to use and open and at the same time ensures that the enclosed device is actuated correctly.

  • Publication number: 20090076451
Abstract: A medical device is provided comprising a first a second units, the first unit comprising a housing with a skin-mountable surface, and a transcutaneous device having a distal portion adapted to be arranged through the skin of the subject in a situation of use in which the housing has been applied on a skin surface. The second unit is adapted to be releasably coupled to the first unit thereby, in a situation of use, substantially covering an introduction site of the transcutaneous device through the skin, whereby at least partial removal of the second unit from the first unit at least partially uncovers the introduction site. In this way the transcutaneous device can be protected during use, yet it allows the user to inspect the introduction site.
