Patent number: 11945315Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods associated with a powertrain for a micro-mobility fleet vehicle. The fleet vehicle may include at least one drive wheel to provide tractive contact between the flee vehicle and a road surface, an electric motor mechanically coupled to the drive wheel and configured to provide motive force for the fleet vehicle, a brake resistor configured to provide dynamic braking of the motor, and a motor controller electronically coupling the brake resistor to the motor. The motor controller may be configured to control the motive force provided by the motor using the brake resistor. The motor controller may be configured to limit a speed, power, and/or acceleration of the motor using the brake resistor based on an operational environment of, and/or on a directive received by, the fleet vehicle. The brake resistor may provide a relatively wide range of traction control for the fleet vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2019Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Lyft, Inc.Inventors: Conrad Xavier Murphy, Chen-Yu Lin, Nikola Popov, Simon Roy

Publication number: 20220411893Abstract: In order to reduce the contamination of scandium oxide products, the present disclosure provides a process for removing at least one metal contaminant from a scandium (Sc) concentrate. The process is based on contacting the Sc concentrate with an ion exchange resin to obtain a purified Sc eluate or raffinate. The first ion exchange resin and the second ion exchange resin are strong acid cationic resins with sulfonic acid functional groups in a potassium or sodium form. The purified Sc eluate or raffinate can be used to make scandium oxide products having a reduced amount of metal ion contaminants.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 26, 2020Publication date: December 29, 2022Inventors: Michel Paquin, Simon Roy

Publication number: 20140279693Abstract: A method for providing goal-based portfolio management with a server is provided. User input is received at the server. The user input includes investment goals and portfolio information. An asset allocation and investment strategy based on the received user input is automatically determined with the server by assigning the user to a target portfolio asset allocation, a glide path, and a set of specific recommendations. The glide path is dependent upon at least one of the investment goals received from the user. The glide path includes at least one shift from a first portfolio to a second portfolio different from the first portfolio as a user encounters risk exposure changes while moving towards at least one of the investment goals. The asset allocation and investment strategy are provided from the server to a user interface of the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2014Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Jemstep, Inc.Inventors: Simon Roy, Clifford Jurie Schoeman, Matthew Rennie, Daniel Lionel Saksenberg

Patent number: 8757482Abstract: A centrally tracked artificial currency is provided within the context of an enterprise. This currency serves as a unit of account, medium of exchange, and store of value in a corporate “attention economy.” Users (typically coworkers) in the enterprise are allotted a base number of currency units, which they can earn, exchange, and spend in a variety of ways to signal importance and “purchase” attention of others, or priority for other organization resources. In one aspect, senders of messages can specify an amount of currency to be associated with the message, so that recipients can see the specified amount before deciding whether to read the message. Once such a system is in use, it facilitates exchange of value based on user-created transactions regarding behavior, communication, resources, incentives, and priorities.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2011Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: Seriosity, Inc.Inventors: David Abecassis, Helen Cheng, Mark Phillips, Leighton Read, Byron Reeves, Simon Roy, Daniel Rubin

Publication number: 20080285763Abstract: To increase the stereophonic potential of an ordinary stereo source, a device (20) eliminates the common signals from a stereo source. The device is installed in relation to four loudspeakers, two primary (38, 40) and two secondary (42, 44), and it includes a stereo input (34, 36) and an electric circuit that links the two secondary loudspeakers. The primary loudspeakers reproduce unaltered stereo signals and the secondary loudspeakers reproduce altered signals where (by hand: when) the circuit has eliminated the common signals from the two channels of the primary stereo source. Since all “mono” components of the sound [by hand: same amplitude, same frequency] have been eliminated from the secondary outputs, we obtain a “purely stereo” source. An additional channel (45) can be added in order to reproduce the common components of the stereo source.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2004Publication date: November 20, 2008Inventors: Richard Cote, Simon Roy
