  • Patent number: 10038782
Abstract: The supporting of the managed call recording is used for a call between a calling party and a called party, where a network node receives an invite message that initiates the call, and it is determined that either the calling party or the called party is a managed call recording (MCR) subscriber. A conference bridge is created for the calling party, the called party, and a session initiation protocol recording server (SRS), after the call has been answered by the called party. The network node transmits instructions to play MCR announcements using the conference bridge, prior to the call being connected between the calling party and the called party, where the call is recorded by the SRS.

  • Patent number: 9130965
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of inter-technology handoff of a multi-mode mobile unit in a packet-switched communication system. One embodiment of the method includes establishing a call from a first application layer client in the first mobile unit using a first wireless communication link that operates according to a first wireless access technology. The method also includes sending, in response to detecting changing conditions of the first wireless communication link, a request to form a conference call including the first application layer client and inviting a second application layer client in the first mobile unit to join the conference call. The second application layer client uses a second wireless communication link that operates according to a second wireless access technology. The method further includes handing off the call from the first application layer client to the second application layer client.

  • Patent number: 8681960
Abstract: An exemplary method provides access to call origination features contained in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) for a subscriber of the IMS who originates a call request from customer premises equipment (CPE) outside of the IMS. The call request is received at a public service identity (PSI) server in the IMS with a phone number to which the call request is routed. An IMS internal desk number is retrieved based on the number of the outside CPE. A first modified call request is transmitted from the PSI server to a telephony application server (TAS) identifying the IMS internal desk number as a request universal resource identity (RURI). Call origination treatment as specified by the subscriber is performed by the TAS.

  • Publication number: 20040258215
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for sending and receiving text messages using the wireline telephone network, common control switching arrangements, and commonly available equipment such as DTMF telephones and caller-ID devices. One wireline Short Message Service (SMS) application is a broadcast message system that can update parents of students who attend a school. Further applications include user-controlled lists, dynamic lists, Public Service Announcements, and news services. Call signaling methods are utilized to alert the receiving station of an incoming message and to deliver the message. Alerting options include using suppressed ringing to deliver a message without ringing the line as part of a calling name parameter during normal alerting, ISDN D-channel (out of band) message(s), or using normal ringing and sending the FSK after answer on an adjunct CPE or computer-only line. Additionally, a text message could be scheduled at a targeted date and time for delivery.

  • Patent number: 5629954
Abstract: A single-frequency semiconductor laser diode structure and a method for its fabrication. The structure includes a built-in etalon, which limits the frequency of operation of the device to a very narrow frequency band. For an edge-emitting diode, the etalon is formed over a cleaved end face of the semiconductor diode structure, and light is emitted from an opposed cleaved end face. For a surface emitting diode, the etalon is formed as an additional plurality of layers between a plurality of semiconductor layers forming the diode and a substrate on which the structure is formed. Transverse channels formed in the structure have side surfaces that act as mirrors, at least one of which is angularly inclined to the plane of the active region, to reflect light through the etalon layers and out through a parallel exterior surface of the structure. Multiple surface emitting lasers may be arrayed in closely spaced relation to each other, to form a powerful light emitting array.
