  • Publication number: 20070175667
Abstract: A method for the recovery of oil according to which a well is drilled using a drill bit; drilling fluid is introduced to the drill bit and a mixture of the fluid and cuttings from the well is passed to the ground surface. The mixture is passed into a vessel and the vessel is transported from the ground surface to another area where the fluid is separated from the cuttings in the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20070075024
Abstract: In one embodiment, a sedimentation-control system is provided, comprising a housing and an inlet in the housing, through which fluid may flow into the housing. This embodiment also comprises an outlet, through which fluid may flow out of the housing and a plurality of inclined plates in the housing. This embodiment also comprises a collection auger near the bottom of the housing, wherein the collection auger may transport material that drops out of fluid within the housing, and a drying auger, wherein the drying auger couples to the housing near a terminus of the collection auger, and wherein the drying auger transports material collected by the collection auger away from the housing.

  • Publication number: 20050236015
Abstract: The present invention features a method and system for extraction of oil from drill cuttings. The extraction is carrying out by using a solvent. The extraction conditions preferably include a temperature and pressure each elevated above ambient and optionally to at least the critical point of the solvent. The cleaned drill cuttings may include not more than 1 wt. % oil.

  • Publication number: 20050045383
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing particulate matter from a drilling fluid by passing the drilling fluid through a shale shaker screen disposed at the surface. The screen is manufactured from the same diffusion bonded wire laminates used to make a sand control screen used in production. The screen comprises three layers each of a different pore size that are stacked one on top of the other. The layer having the smallest pore size is placed at the top of the stack and the layer having the largest pore size is placed at the bottom of the stack. The present invention is also directed to a system for removing particulate matter from the drilling fluid. The system includes a pump and shale shaker comprising the improved screen.
