Publication number: 20180037167Abstract: An adaptable load floor assembly, storage compartment, and associated control system for a vehicle. The vehicle includes a storage compartment with a load floor, a rear opening, a door for selectively closing the opening, and a platform hinged to the load floor and located within the storage compartment when the door is closed. In use and when the door is open, the platform is pivotable from a retracted position in which the platform partially obstructs the opening and a deployed position in which the platform extends out of the opening to provide an extension to the load floor. The platform is operated automatically by an actuator and the free end of the platform is supported by a tether. The vehicle includes a control unit for controlling the movement of the platform in accordance with safety criteria to avoid damage.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2016Publication date: February 8, 2018Inventors: Simon SMITH, David OVENS

Patent number: 9487284Abstract: In a marine power distribution and propulsion system with a medium voltage distribution busbar (MVAC1) and a low voltage distribution busbar (LVAC1) then a rectifier (SC) is controlled, optionally to provide active filtering and static compensation benefits. A common power supply system incorporating ac generators (G1-G4) supplies power to the medium and low voltage distribution busbars. The rectifier (SC) is connected to the medium voltage distribution busbar (MVAC1). A controller (Co) uses feedback signals indicative of electrical quantities of the distribution voltages carried by both the medium voltage and low voltage distribution busbars (MVAC1, LVAC1) to control the rectifier (SC) to regulate electrical quantities at the ac terminals of the rectifier (SC) in order to achieve desired electrical quantities of the distribution voltage carried by the low voltage distribution busbar (LVAC1).Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2011Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: GE Energy Power Conversion Technology, Ltd.Inventors: Allan David Crane, Nicholas Simon Smith, Ralph Edwin Maltby

Publication number: 20160321576Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generation of at least one model to represent an organization or part thereof. The model includes the ability for a user enquiry to be made and the generation of a viewpoint in response to the enquiry. The generation of the viewpoint includes reference to at least one parameter relating to the organization and in particular the condition of the parameter at or nearest to the time of the enquiry being made or at a user defined time. Said viewpoint or viewpoints predict the effect a decision or set of decisions is likely to have on the ongoing operation of the organization.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2016Publication date: November 3, 2016Inventors: Dick Whittington, Simon Smith

Patent number: 9195731Abstract: A method and system is provided for the generation of a model to represent at least part of an organization. The model includes a plurality of items of relevance to the organization and said items are linked to each other and/or one or more organization database and/or one or more data sources external to the model so as to be able to generate, in a predefined manner a response to a user request made of the model. Thus user's receive appropriate automated support for their decision processes which is more efficient and allows better informed decisions to be made on the basis of the responses from the model. As the model is generated with reference to the organization rather than the raw data sources the use of the model is supportive of the organization work methodology and the responses are at the required level with respect to the decisions are to be made within the organization.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2012Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: MOOD INTERNATIONAL LIMITEDInventors: Simon Smith, Dick Whittington

Patent number: 7854226Abstract: A powder inhaler includes a container for storing powdered medicament. A metering member has a dosing recess and is moveable between a filling position in which the dosing recess is in alignment with an opening of the container, and an inhalation position in which it is in alignment with an inhalation channel. A mouthpiece is in communication with the inhalation channel for enabling inhalation of the dose of powdered medicament when in the inhalation position. A protective member provided between the metering member and the inhalation channel is moveable between a closed position in which the protective member covers the dosing recess, thereby preventing powdered medicament contained in the dosing recess from entering the inhalation channel, and an open position in which the protective member does not cover the dosing recess, thereby exposing the dosing recess to the inhalation channel for enabling inhalation of the dose of the powdered medicament.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2006Date of Patent: December 21, 2010Assignee: Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A.Inventors: John Pinon, Sameer Shirgaonkar, Christopher James Smith, Simon Burge, Max William Middleton, David Ahern, Matthew Neil Sarkar, Ben Arlett, Emma Lesley Lye, Simon Smith
