  • Publication number: 20260126605
Abstract: Splices for cable tapes are provided herein. Cable tapes, such as water blocking tapes, that include such splices are also provided. The splices and tapes may be incorporated into a tape or cable wrapping for various conductors, including power, telecom, and fiber optic cables. A splice for use with a cable tape comprises a layer of nonwoven fibers. The fibers form a discontinuous adhesive web having a thickness of about 0.15 mm to about 1.0 mm. The discontinuous web structure of the splice is configured to prevent formation of a film in the cable tape. The splice forms a thermal bond with multiple sections of the cable tape while substantially maintaining the thickness of the tape. The splice preferably has a cross web flexibility similar to the cable tape at the elevated temperatures experienced during extrusion, particularly when the tape is applied longitudinally inside a co-extruded tube over the fiber bundle.

  • Publication number: 20260071932
Abstract: A liquid detection laminate, an electrical cable including the liquid detection laminate, and methods for the same are described herein. The liquid detection laminate may include an electrically insulating substrate, a hydrophilic layer disposed adjacent the electrically insulating substrate and forming a laminate with the electrically insulating substrate, and a conductive wire interposed between the electrically insulating substrate and the hydrophilic layer. The electrical cable may include a cable core, an outer sheath disposed radially outward of the cable core, and the liquid detection laminate interposed between the cable core and the outer sheath.

  • Publication number: 20250256495
Abstract: A soluble laminate, a laminated paper, and a packaging material including the soluble laminate are provided. The laminate may include a first layer including a paper and a second layer including a film. The paper and the film may be at least partially soluble. The first layer may include a first paper surface and a second paper surface. The first paper surface may face towards the second layer, and the second paper surface may face away from the second layer. The second layer may have a first film surface and a second film surface. The first film surface may face away from the first layer and the second film surface may face toward the first layer. At least some of the first paper surface and at least some of the second film surface may be partially dissolved and adhered to one another.

  • Publication number: 20050180704
Abstract: The tape for protecting and mechanically supporting an optical, power, or other such cable is disclosed. An open cell foam layer is coated or layered with a super absorbent layer that is attached to one side of a support layer. In this arrangement, when exposed to water the super absorbent layer expands or swells into the open cell layer. The inner core of the cable is surrounded by the tape with the side of the open cell layer distal from the super absorbent layer facing the inner core. The support layer may have the protective open cell and super absorbent combination attached to both sides of the support layer.
