  • Patent number: 8910362
Abstract: A process is described for converting the spring components and the cushioning and covering materials derived from discarded mattresses and foundations into materials suitable for the manufacture of rebuilt units which comply with given governmental regulatory requirements. A preliminary optional step in the process comprises heating the discarded mattress at 230° F. to ensure that the components produced by deconstruction may be safely reused and recycled.

  • Publication number: 20140283305
Abstract: A pillow, mattress pad, mattress pad and pillow system, and mattress are provided having a plurality of zones for providing a selected distribution of pressure across different parts of a sleeper's body. The pillow has a first zone of elasticity for supporting the head of a sleeper and an integral second zone of elasticity for supporting the neck and upper thoracic spine, said pillow comprising a firm high resistance foam lower portion and a viscoelastic foam upper portion matingly contoured to the lower portion and internally sealed to the lower portion along a surface of predetermined curvature.

  • Patent number: 6101718
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved mattress comprising an inner spring assembly from a used mattress wherein the inner spring assembly has been stripped of its outer covering of ticking and padding material, heat treated to provide stress relief to the components of the inner spring assembly having received only partial stress relief or no stress relief when the assembly was new, and covered with new ticking and padding material. Prior to the heat treatment, the used inner spring assembly has any bent border wires and connecting wires straightened, and displaced components returned to their proper position, and any damaged components replaced with good quality new or used replacement components resulting in the same inner spring assembly structure as when the assembly was new. The resulting mattress has improved load bearing capacity compared to the original mattress when it was new.
