  • Patent number: 7884586
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a voltage regulator system where duty cycle value of an input voltage is measured, where the input voltage is supplied to a regulator circuit that provides a regulated output voltage. Based on a calculated ideal duty cycle, which is derived from the measure duty cycle, a determination is made as to whether the regular circuit operational mode is to be changed to achieve greater efficiency.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 8, 2011
    Assignee: Infineon Technologies
    Inventor: Simone Fabbro
  • Publication number: 20110006743
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a switching converter using a duty cycle associated with either a buck mode or a boost mode of the switching converter. More particularly, a controller determines when to change between buck mode and boost mode based on the duty cycle associated with one of the buck mode or the boost mode.

  • Patent number: 7336085
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for detecting a load current through a load includes a main transistor, a sensing transistor through which a load current flows that is a measure of the load current flowing through the main transistor. In addition, a resistance is connected in series with the load path of the sensing transistor, and a current source is connected to a node arranged between the sensing transistor and the resistance. A detector detects the load current flowing through the main transistor by measuring the voltage across the resistance.

  • Publication number: 20060055375
Abstract: One or more aspects of the present invention pertain to a voltage supply circuit arrangement. In one example, an arrangement comprises a voltage regulator designed to output a regulated voltage, derived from a first supply voltage applied to a supply input. An additional circuit component is also included that has inactive and active operating states, wherein the circuit has a functional action in the active operating state. In the active operating state, a charge store is part of the circuit. In the inactive operating state, the circuit is coupled to the output of the voltage regulator component, where the voltage regulator component is designed to output a charging current to the charge store. In addition, a control circuit is provided which is designed to evaluate an electrical parameter for the charge store. On the basis of the evaluation, the charge store is coupled to the circuit. As a result, the circuit adopts the active operating state.
