Patent number: 9494976Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to an apparatus including a housing and a slot disposed in the housing, the slot configured to hold an input device in a plurality of upright configurations including at least a forward-facing upright configuration such that the input device faces the front portion of the housing, and at least a backward-facing upright configuration such that the input device faces the back portion of the housing. The slot can be overmolded with a rubber compound (e.g. silicon-based) and configured to provide an improved coefficient of friction to reduce slippage of the input device when held in the slot. In some aspects, the housing includes a surface, and the overmolded portion of the slot can protrude above the surface of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2013Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: Logitech Europe S.A.Inventors: Mathew Bates, Brian Stephens, John Moriarty, Simone Mandelli, James Jackson, James Lynch, Ronan Carroll, Mel Reynolds, Stephen Harvey, Denis O'Keeffe

Patent number: 9496102Abstract: In certain embodiments, a protective cover for an input device includes a housing having an outer portion and an inner portion, with the inner portion including a first end and a second end, and a plurality of keys disposed in an area at the first end of the inner portion of the housing. A holder can be configured to receive and secure an input device with at least a portion of the holder coupled to the second end of the inner portion of the housing. The housing can be configurable in a plurality of positions including a closed configuration, an open configuration, a first active configuration, and a second active configuration. The protective cover can further include a plurality of magnets coupled to the housing and configured to secure the housing in one or more of the closed, open, and active configurations.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2013Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: LOGITECH EUROPE S.A.Inventors: Mathew Bates, Chia Feng Lee, Li-Jen Chien, John Moriarty, Simone Mandelli, James Jackson, Benjamin Riot, Mel Reynolds

Patent number: 9218025Abstract: In certain embodiments, a protective cover includes a housing having a surface, and a latch mechanism hingeably coupled to the housing. The latch can include a top side and a bottom side, the bottom side configured to couple to and secure an input device to the surface of the housing. The latch can be configured to rotate, via the hinge coupling, between a first configuration and second configuration. In the first configuration, the top side of the latch can be flush with the surface of the housing and the bottom side embedded within the housing such that the latch does not protrude from the housing. In the second configuration, the latch can be rotated relative to the first configuration and protrude from the housing. The latch can be operable to be rotated open from the first configuration to the second configuration via the hinge coupling.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2013Date of Patent: December 22, 2015Assignee: Logitech Europe S.A.Inventors: Mathew Bates, Brian Stephens, Chia Feng Lee, John Moriarty, Simone Mandelli, James Jackson, James Lynch, Ronan Carroll, Mel Reynolds, Stephen Harvey, Denis O'Keeffe

Publication number: 20140261995Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for imprinting fonts on a flexible key cap. In some embodiments, the method for imprinting font on a flexible key cap includes mixing polyurethane (PU) and one or more laser additives to form a PU clay mixture. The PU clay mixture can be infused into a molding tool to form a set of key caps. Some embodiments place a fabric layer over the molding tool and applies pressure over the fabric layer to couple the set of key caps and the fabric layer. A laser marking technique can be applied over a portion of the set of key caps. A characteristic of the portion of the set of key caps can be modified in response to the UV laser application and cause a color change at the portion of the set of key caps.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Logitech Europe S.A.Inventors: Pai-Cheng Chu, Tzu-Pin Lin, Chih-Wei Chen, Zhaoyang Han, Simone Mandelli

Publication number: 20140267050Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a data input device configured for use with one or more computing devices. The data input device includes a housing and a communications module coupled to the housing. The communication module is operable to establish and maintain a connection with one or more computing devices, and communicate instructions from the data input device to the one or more computing devices. The data input device also includes a plurality of input members disposed on the housing in at least five rows. The plurality of input members includes four smaller sized input members that are directional keys disposed along a portion of a bottom row of input members. At least two-and-a-half input members in a second row of input members directly above the bottom row occupy the same length of the housing as the smaller sized input members.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Inventors: Malachy Spollen, Sylvain Sauvage, Simone Mandelli
