  • Publication number: 20060288154
Abstract: A data clearing method. When a computer system boots, a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) therein is cleared by way of suspending refresh cycles thereof within a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6701409
Abstract: A method of reading data on a disk drive suited to an operating system that does not support the disk drive. First, the system allocates a free memory space in a memory thereof. Then the system reads the data in all the sectors of the disk with a reading routine, and saves the data in the free memory space. While receiving a disk drive reading command, the system processes the data saved in the free memory space according to the disk drive reading command. Thus, the drawback of the repeatedly turning on and off the disk drive is avoided while reading data with a length larger than a sector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 11, 2001
Date of Patent: March 2, 2004
    Assignee: Via Technologies, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20030172260
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of embedding an OS startup in portable devices. First, a system registry is read. The system registry contains the size of the OS, the setup date of the OS, the number of files therein, and the checksum. Then, system information is acquired from the OS, and the checksum is calculated. If the calculated checksum is equal to the checksum recorded in the system registry and the system information is identical to that which is recorded in the system registry, the system registry is loaded, and the OS is started based on the information contained within the system registry.
