  • Patent number: 11770472
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems and paradigms for opt-in compliance with regulations. A region in physical space is defined. A condition for the region is defined, the condition being a capability of a communicator such as video recording, still image recording, audio recording, audio output, text messaging, audio communication, or remote connection. The presence and location of a communicator with the capability is detected in the region, and a message is sent to the communicator with a request for a response accepting or rejecting remote deactivation of the capability of the communicator. If an acceptance response is received, the communicator capability is deactivated. If an acceptance response is not received, a notification is generated that includes the lack of acceptance response and the location of the communicator.

  • Publication number: 20230269358
Abstract: A target is outputted to an ideal position in 3D space. A viewer indicates the apparent position of the target, and the indication is sensed. An offset between the ideal and apparent positions is determined, and an adjustment determined from the offset such that the apparent position of the ideal position with the adjustment matches the ideal position without the adjustment. The adjustment is made to the first entity and/or a second entity, such that the entities appear to the viewer in the ideal position. The indication may be monocular with a separate indication for each eye, or binocular with a single viewer indication for both eyes. The indication also may serve as communication, such as a PIN input, so that calibration is transparent to the viewer. The method may be continuous, intermittent, or otherwise ongoing over time.

  • Patent number: 11723531
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving the peripheral vision of a subject are disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure includes a method, which may be embodied on a system, for improving peripheral vision of a subject using a visual marker on a display screen, the method includes, displaying a peripheral target on the display screen, the peripheral target having a visually discernable characteristic and determining whether the subject is able to correctly identify the peripheral target displayed on the display screen using the peripheral vision. The visual marker is intended for viewing using central vision of the subject and the peripheral target is intended for identification using the peripheral vision of the subject.

  • Publication number: 20230019314
Abstract: A method, system, apparatus, and/or device for displaying a portion of data so as to not obstruct a portion of a central visual field. The method, system, apparatus, and/or device may include a display configured to display data and a processing device coupled to the display. The processing device may be configured to determine a position of an eye of a viewer with respect to the display, define a first region of the display substantially corresponding with a peripheral vision field of the eye, define a second region of the display substantially corresponding with a central visual field of the eye, send a first portion of the data to be displayed at the first region, and send a second portion of the data to be displayed at the second output region such that a portion of the central visual field is unobstructed by the second portion of the data.

  • Publication number: 20220322930
Abstract: A base acoustic emission is directed at an eye, and a return acoustic emission is detected from the eye. Base and return acoustic emissions are compared and differences evaluated to determine a descriptor of intraocular pressure. Also, stereo content is provided to a viewer with vergence depth and/or other features selected to bias the eyes towards therapeutically useful positions, movements, focuses, etc. and/or away from harmful positions, movements, focuses, etc. Therapy may facilitate improvements in eye health through reduction of intraocular pressure, reducing mechanical insult to the optic nerve and/or other structures, reducing muscle strain in eye orientation muscles, reducing forces applied to the eye lens and/or within the associated muscles and ligaments, etc., to benefit glaucoma, myopia, etc. Stereo targets may be presented to align the eyes for other testing. Eye alignment, testing, and/or motion treatment may be combined as an “end-to-end” process.

  • Patent number: 11151848
Abstract: “Smart” functionality is provided to “dumb” containers. A closure such as tape is provided with structural nonuniformity, such as holes punched to weaken the material or polymer printing to strengthen the material. Data is encoded in structural nonuniformity, so when the closure is torn, cut, or otherwise yields the data is encoded in the acoustic emission. The structural nonuniformity also may be readable optically or otherwise. Encoded data may include event detection (logging containers opening), package/product information (e.g., lot numbers, contents), validation (e.g., validation codes to distinguish authentic from counterfeit products), and user recognition (e.g., brand jingles, warning sounds). Closures may be made/dispensed with structural nonuniformity in place, and/or structural nonuniformity may be added to closures already securing a portal. Hand-held systems may dispense and/or modify closures with structural nonuniformity.

  • Patent number: 11081218
Abstract: An identity standard (a name, cell number, face image, etc.), a therapeutic event standard associated with the identity standard (such as a stored image of a person taking a medication), and a parameter standard associated with the identity standard (e.g. a time range for taking medication) are established. If a transmission (such as a selfie from a cell phone) is observed, that transmission is received and determinations are made as to whether the transmission satisfies the identity standard, the therapeutic event standard, and the parameter standard. If the identity standard, therapeutic event standard, and parameter standard are satisfied, a satisfaction reaction is executed (logging data, sending a confirmation message, etc.).

  • Patent number: 10964198
Abstract: Network-connected (i.e., “smart”) containers are described herein that include an electronic display on which personalized information can be presented. For example, the electronic display (and other necessary components, such as memory, processors, and communication modules) can be integrated into the cap or the body of a container, which holds a skin care product (e.g., a medication or a personal care product, such as a cosmetic) that is applied by the user as part of a skin care regimen. More specifically, a smart container can include an electronic display that presents relevant information to a user for review. Such information can include the name of the skin care product, textual instructions for complying with a skin care regimen, animations illustrating how to apply the skin care product, user information, messages (e.g., text messages delivered via a cloud service), notifications, and device information (e.g., battery status and network connectivity status).

  • Patent number: 10811128
Abstract: Arrangements are provided for “smart” functionality with “dumb” containers, such as for tracking medication use to determine adherence. An acoustic emitter such as a whistle is engaged with a container such as an eye drop bottle. An event such as dispensing medication or opening the container causes a characteristic acoustic emission, such as an ultrasonic pitch of specific frequency. The emitter may be purposefully configured to produce the emission, may operate so that the emission is a natural consequence of dispensing medication (or other event), and may operate transparently to the user. The emitter may be part of a larger remote, such as a squeezable air-filled shell with an aperture to accept the container. A cell phone or other station receives the acoustic emission, and if a processor thereof determines that the emission is characteristic of the emitter the event is recorded, transmitted, displayed, or otherwise registered.

  • Patent number: 10786149
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to systems and methods for performing eye examinations using an HMD that is able to present an image to each eye individually and then to both eyes simultaneously. Because the HMD, rather than a patient, controls conditions (e.g., glare, brightness) during the examination, test results are more likely to be accurate and reliable. In some embodiments, the HMD employs voice recognition to replicate the conversational exchange that would typically occur between the patient and the ophthalmologist or optometrist. The HMD may also be configured to change the visual environment experienced by the patient during testing. Further yet, the HMD, or another distinct computing system, may be configured to identify abnormal test results in real-time and, in some embodiments, the examination is modified accordingly. For example, tests scheduled to be performed during the examination can be modified or removed and new tests can be added.
