    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to transcoding a coding tree unit (CTU) in a picture of a video sequence. An input encoded representation of the CTU is decoded to obtain coding parameters for the input encoded representation. The coding parameters are used to determine a search sub-space consisting of a subset of all possible combinations of candidate encoded representations of the CTU. The CTU is encoded to get an output encoded representation of the CTU belonging to the search sub-space.
