If an image for the location that aptly depicts the weather conditions as indicated by the weather data cannot be identified, the geographical area associated with the location is expanded to search for appropriate images from an expanded image pool. The expansion can continue in one or more steps until a threshold is reached beyond which the geographical area my no longer be expanded. If no images are retrieved upon reaching the threshold, an image reflecting the weather condition is selected from a fallback image set for presentation with the weather data.

The computing device may determine a position displacement associated with a user-controlled pointer interaction with the display device and compare the position displacement with an error threshold value to determine a type of operation to perform on the display device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering a complex character suitable for display on a monitor are provided. A raw character bitmap representing the complex character is filtered to form a filtered bitmap so as to reduce the effects of monitor flicker and enhance image contrast. The filtered bitmap is then scaled down to a target bitmap using a bilinear scaling operation followed by recursive cubic scaling operations. The target bitmap is suitably sized for storage in a memory device coupled to the monitor.
