  • Publication number: 20170086137
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to allocating power and/or data to uplink channels for wireless communications. The present aspects include determining an initial transmit power for each of a first carrier and a second carrier for a user equipment (UE). The present aspects further include determining that the initial transmit power of the first carrier is less than the initial transmit power of the second carrier. Additionally, the present aspects include allocating a first transmit power to the first carrier prior to allocating a second transmit power to the second carrier based on determining that the initial transmit power of the first carrier is less than the initial transmit power of the second carrier, the first transmit power is greater than the second transmit power.

  • Publication number: 20170034849
Abstract: Various embodiments provide methods for a multi-Subscription Identity Module (SIM) wireless communication device for managing data exchanges with a network when an enhanced dedicated channel is requested on a first subscription. The methods may include performing operations during a testing phase to determine whether an enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid after a tune-away to a second subscription is completed, while transmitting data using the enhanced dedicated channel presuming that the enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid during the testing phase. The methods may include recording a list of protocol data units (PDUs) corresponding to data transmitted using the enhanced dedicated channel during the testing phase. The list of PDUs may be cleared and data exchanged with the network in response to determining that the enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid. Otherwise, the multi-SIM wireless communication device may request another enhanced dedicated channel grant.

Abstract: Aspects of present methods and apparatus relating to recovering from a HS-SCCH decode failure during wireless communication are disclosed. The described aspects include detecting that one or more packet data units (PDUs) are being transmitted on an uplink channel, wherein at least one of the one or more PDUs includes a POLL BIT set to TRUE. • Patent number: 9544942
Abstract: A method and apparatus for radio resource control (RRC) state transitions of a user equipment (UE) are provided. For the RRC state transitions of the UE, for example, a reconfiguration message is received at the UE while the UE is in a cell dedicated channel (CELL_DCH) state of the RRC states. The reconfiguration message is configured to transition the UE from the CELL_DCH state to a non-dedicated channel state of RRC states. A plurality of acknowledgement procedures is sent on an uplink to the network, in response to the received reconfiguration message causing the UE to transition from the CELL_DCH state to the non-dedicated channel state.

  • Patent number: 9521655
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for avoiding power scaling and controlling transmit power in uplink data transmission are provided. If a user equipment (UE) would be transmit-power limited when transmitting data concurrently on an uplink high speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH) and an uplink data channel, the UE may forgo building data for transmission on the uplink data channel to avoid power scaling. If the UE would be transmit-power limited when transmitting data concurrently on an HS-DPCCH and a dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH), the UE may reduce the transmission power of a portion of the data transmitted on the DPCCH to avoid power scaling. The UE may also boost transmission power of a negative acknowledge transmission above network-specified power level.

  • Patent number: 9473416
Abstract: Techniques of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) packet transmission for wireless communication are provided for a user equipment (UE). The UE receives a plurality of TCP packets on a downlink channel from a network. In response, the UE generates a plurality of TCP Acknowledgment (ACK) packets corresponding to the plurality of received TCP packets. The plurality of TCP ACK packets is prioritized based on certain criteria. A TCK ACK packet with a highest priority among the plurality of TCP ACK packets is selected. The selected highest priority TCP ACK packet is then sent to the network on an uplink channel.

  • Publication number: 20160302100
Abstract: The disclosure provides for a user equipment (UE) handling radio link control (RLC) reset in wireless communications. Various techniques are described wherein RLC reset procedures are associated with various triggering conditions and predetermined time periods at RLC. Delays for initiation and execution of the RLC reset procedures are also described. In an aspect, the UE determines that at least one data unit to be received over a first logical channel is yet to be received by the UE and that there is data traffic over a second logical channel with higher priority than the first logical channel. In another aspect, the UE delays initiation of an RLC reset on a condition that the UE determines that at least one data unit is yet to be received over the first logical channel and that there is data traffic over the second logical channel.

  • Patent number: 9462628
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for improving user experience in a multi-radio access bearer (multi-RAB) wireless communication system. After a user equipment establishes a circuit-switched communication link and a packet-switched communication link with a core network, it may receive an indication of an error associated with the packet-switched communication link. Here, if the value of a timer such as the RAB re-establishment timer T314 has a predetermined value (e.g., 0), the user equipment may release the packet-switched communication link, and maintain the circuit-switched communication link. The packet-switched communication link may then be re-established. In this fashion, errors that may occur on the data call need not interrupt a voice call.
