  • Publication number: 20180184456
Abstract: There is provided a method and device for managing a wireless network comprising a wireless access point for communicating over a transmission channel with one or more wireless stations. The method comprises the wireless access point monitoring network performance and, if the network performance is below a limit, issuing an instruction to one of the wireless stations to operate in a mode to more reliably determine when the transmission channel is clear.

  • Publication number: 20180167266
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of medium access control in a co-ordinator node of a body area network is disclosed. The body area network comprises the co-ordinator node and a plurality of sensor nodes. Each of the sensor nodes comprises a sensor and is configured to wirelessly communicate with the co-ordinator node in time slots defined by a plurality of medium access control super-frames. The method comprises receiving at the co-ordinator node, a signal from a first sensor node of the plurality of sensor nodes, the signal comprising an indication of a measured quantity at the first sensor node, the measured quantity being indicative of an attribute of a wireless link of the body area network between the first sensor node and the co-ordinator node; estimating an attribute of the link using the indication; and configuring parameters of a medium access control superframe using the estimated attribute.

  • Patent number: 9806799
Abstract: A concentrator is configured to reschedule a TDMA mesh network in response to an interrupted transmission. The new schedule is calculated by selectively rescheduling transmissions that are scheduled in the same time slot as the interrupted transmission. Transmissions are selected to be rescheduled based on the proximity of the sector of the transmission to the sector of the interrupted transmission. The sectors of the mesh network are defined by neck nodes, where a neck node is a node that can communicate directly with the concentrator.

  • Publication number: 20170164422
Abstract: According to one embodiment is a method in a hub of a first wireless body area network (WBAN). The first WBAN includes the hub and at least one sensor node. The hub is configured to wirelessly communicate with the at least one sensor node on a first frequency channel and the method comprises: receiving a retention index of a second WBAN operating on the first frequency channel, wherein a retention index is a measure of the operational characteristics of the respective WBAN; comparing the retention index of the second WBAN with a retention index of the first WBAN; and changing the wireless communication behaviour of the first WBAN if the retention index of the first WBAN is lower than the retention index of the second WBAN.

  • Publication number: 20170019906
Abstract: A method of mitigating interference between two or more wide body area networks WBANs, the method comprising: detecting, at a first WBAN, control channel beacons transmitted from one or more other WBANs, each control channel beacon specifying a data channel on which the respective WBAN is operating; determining, based on the detected control channel beacons, whether one of the other WBANs is operating on the same data channel as the first WBAN and if so, adjusting one or more communication parameters of the first WBAN or requesting said one of the other WBANS to adjust its own communication parameters in order to mitigate interference between the first WBAN and said one of the other WBANs.

  • Patent number: 8583114
Abstract: A method of identifying an available channel of a plurality of frequency channels defined in a radio frequency spectrum for use by a transmitting station, wherein scanning for an available channel in a frequency spectrum is performed by a scanning method in which a bidirectional search is performed away from an initial channel frequency. The method may include steps to take when a boundary of the spectrum is encountered, and may also take into account existing information concerning channel reservation. A related scanner and radio apparatus is also described.
