  • Patent number: 8000325
Abstract: An improved system and method are disclosed for peer-to-peer communications. In one example, the method includes retrieving a profile and a routing table from an access server by a first endpoint during an authentication process. The profile identifies at least a second endpoint as an endpoint with which the first endpoint has permission to communicate. The routing table contains address information needed for the first endpoint to communicate directly with the second endpoint. The first endpoint sends a notification message directly to the second endpoint using the address information to inform the second endpoint that the first endpoint is online.

  • Publication number: 20070078720
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for advertising in a peer-to-peer hybrid network. In one example, the method includes selecting message content by an endpoint for delivery directly to another endpoint. The endpoint selects one of a message type and a communication channel to be used in delivering the message content, where the other of the message type and communication channel is selected to correspond to the selected communication channel or message type, respectively. The message content, which is formatted according to the message type, is sent to the other endpoint via the communication channel without receiving a request for the message content from the other endpoint.

  • Publication number: 20060095365
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for conducting an auction in a peer-to-peer network. In one example, the method includes initiating the auction by notifying a p-commerce server of the auction's start time, end time, and item being auctioned. A bid is received for the auction directly from another endpoints, and all endpoint that have previously submitted a bid in the auction are directly notified of the received bid. The p-commerce server is instructed to stop the auction after a determination is made that the auction has ended. A highest bid from the submitted bids is identified and the endpoint that submitted the highest bid is directly notified that it has won the auction.

  • Patent number: 6950441
Abstract: A softswitch interconnecting networks of different transport protocols is provided. The softswitch includes a signaling agent coupled to the networks and operable to receive incoming signaling messages, translate the incoming signaling messages to a call model event, and route the call model event. The softswitch further includes a call agent in communication with the signaling agent and operable to receive the call model event, request outgoing resources for establishing data sessions, generate outgoing signaling messages, and send the outgoing signaling messages to the signaling agent. The signaling agent then terminates the data sessions on the requested outgoing resources.

  • Patent number: 6775269
Abstract: A method for routing a telephone call originating at a first network that utilizes a first signaling protocol to a termination in a second network that uses a second signaling protocol includes receiving a services request associated with a calling party from the first network and translating the service request. The method also includes determining a route for processing the service request over the second network and generating signaling specifying the determined route. Determining the route for processing the request over the second network includes determining an address for the calling party and accessing a table associated with the address. The table includes a plurality of pointers to a plurality of additional tables.
