  • Publication number: 20250103026
Abstract: An information handling system monitors an edge device to detect whether a current temperature of the edge device is below a minimum system temperature threshold. If the current temperature is below the minimum system temperature threshold, then the system determines whether the edge device includes a heater. If a current system workload of the edge device is greater than a minimum system workload threshold and the heater is healthy, then the system uses the heater to increase the current temperature of the edge device to the minimum system temperature threshold.

  • Patent number: 12164974
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, one or more systems, one or more methods, and/or one or more processes may determine first thermal attribute values associated with multiple information handling systems (IHSs) with respect to a period of time as the IHSs execute a first workload; determine multiple variance ranges respectively associated with the first thermal attributes; periodically determine second thermal attribute values associated with the IHSs as the IHSs execute a second workload; determine that a thermal attribute value of the second thermal attribute values exceeds a respective variance range of the variance ranges as a first information handling system (IHS) of the IHSs executes the second workload; generate an alert based at least on the thermal attribute value exceeding the respective variance range; and in response to the alert, transfer at least a portion of the second workload from the first IHS to a second IHS of the IHSs.

  • Publication number: 20240362524
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for optimizing overall edge datacenter power and maintaining a compliant thermal state of edge devices in a cluster. Thermal compliant policy of the edge devices as to lower and upper limits is determined. Telemetry attributes from the edge devices are applied to a machine learning (ML) model to predict thermal condition of the edge devices over time. Workload is offloaded from one edge device to another edge device if predicted thermal condition of one of the edge devices is not within the limits of the thermal compliant policy.

  • Patent number: 12082123
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards reallocating power to devices in a group, such as a rack of servers in a datacenter, when no power headroom remains available. Respective devices, which are classified into respective classes corresponding to respective priority device class levels, have power distributed thereto. Upon determining that available power headroom for power capacity distribution among the group of devices has reached an available power capacity distribution lower limit (e.g., zero), reallocation is performed by increasing power capacity allocated to a first device of a higher priority level class, and decreasing power capacity allocated to a second device of a lower priority level class. For more classes, such as high, medium and low, the power can be decreased among the lower priority level classes by a defined ratio, e.g., two-to-one between the medium and low priority classes.

  • Patent number: 11844188
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards a system and method to distribute available power to devices in a group. A group of devices, such as a rack of servers in a data center, can have a group power consumption limit, such as the limit of a power distribution unit that supplies power to the group. The group of devices can each report their individual power consumption to a manager, and the manager can combine the individual power consumptions. The manager can compare the combined power consumption of the group to the group power consumption limit to determine a power headroom. The manager can determine power consumption limits for the devices of the group based on the power headroom, the individual power consumptions, and device priority information.
