    Abstract: A melt-stable, pigmented thermoplastic molding composition is disclosed. Accordingly, to the composition which contains polycarbonate resin and pigment there is imparted an improved level of melt stability upon the incorporation therewith of an additive amount of a melt stabilizer conforming to ##STR1## where R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and n are defined. In an additional embodiment the invention relates to a color concentrate containing polycarbonate resin, up to 30% of a pigment and an effective amount of said stabilizer.

    Abstract: A molding composition comprising a polycarbonate resin and plating modifier was found to be suitable for preparing metal coated articles where the metal coating is deposited by an electroless process. The plating modifier in accordance with the invention is at least one member selected from the group consisting of a polyanhydride, and a monovinyl aromatic-acrylonitrile copolymer. An advantageous embodiment of the invention includes incorporating in the molding composition a flame retarding amount of a conventional flame retarding agent for polycarbonate compositions.

The composition of the invention is suitable for the preparation of molded articles having improved resistance to yellowing and to the formation of haze induced upon exposure to gamma radiation.

    Abstract: A Chemical Blowing Agent (CBA) concentrate was developed comprising a modifying agent and a chemical blowing agent. The CBA is characterized in that its decomposition products contain a primary amine. The modifying agent is a blend of a maleic anhydride copolymer and a butadiene based rubber. It was surprisingly found that resin degradation which often accompanies foam moldings using a CBA of the present type and is expressed in terms of a reduction in the molecular weight of the resin, is much reduced upon the incorporation of the modifying agent and chemical blowing agent of the invention. The concentrate may optionally further comprise a polymeric resin component.
