  • Patent number: 12075381
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, otherwise known as a user equipment (UE) may transmit a data transmission to a receiver. In some examples, the data transmission may be a radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) transmission. The UE may store the data transmission in a retransmission buffer, and transmit a feedback request to the receiver in a subsequent data transmission based on a system memory utilization threshold for the retransmission buffer being satisfied due to storage of the data transmission.

  • Patent number: 11968674
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message indicating a resource configuration for uplink and downlink transmissions. The UE may determine an uplink buffer threshold for a modem buffer of the UE based on the resource configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a feedback request message requesting that the base station provide feedback for at least one previously transmitted uplink packet based on a comparison of an amount of previously transmitted uplink data and scheduled uplink data stored in the modem buffer relative to the uplink buffer threshold. The UE may receive, based on transmitting the feedback request message, a feedback response message corresponding to a first previously transmitted uplink packet of the at least one previously transmitted uplink packet.

  • Patent number: 10321513
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) configured with an uplink (UL) split bearer and method for packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) control protocol data unit (PDU) transmission by the UE are provided. The method includes triggering, by the UE, a PDCP control PDU; determining, by the UE, whether a UL grant is available for a master evolved node B (eNB); transmitting, by the UE, the PDCP control PDU on a link associated with the master eNB, if the UL grant is available for the master eNB; and transmitting, by the UE, the PDCP control PDU on a link associated with a secondary eNB, when the UL grant is unavailable for the master eNB.

  • Patent number: 10256986
Abstract: A system and method for recovering missed Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service (MBMS) data frames in a Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) is provided. The method includes storing a first set of Service Data Units (SDUs) in a first Radio Link Control (RLC) buffer, wherein the first set of SDUs is broadcasted using a first set of MBMS data frames from a first eNB, storing a second set of SDUs in a second RLC buffer, wherein the second set of SDUs is broadcasted using a second set of MBMS data frames from a second eNB, and comparing the first set of MBMS data frames associated with the first set of SDUs with the second set of MBMS data frames associated with the second set of SDUs to recover the missed MBMS data frame in the first set of RLC SDUs received from the first eNB.

  • Publication number: 20160262001
Abstract: Apparatuses (including, but not limited to, user equipment (UE) and base stations, such as evolved Node Bs (eNBs)), systems, and methods for managing resource allocation and utilization for multi-hop device to device (D2D) communication are described. In one method, a UE sends a request to a network for a resource by which the UE can perform initial device discovery in order to perform D2D communication. If available, the network grants the resource and the UE performs initial device discovery using the resource, which includes calculating communication metrics. The UE then sends information based on the initial device discovery to the network which, based at least on that information and if available, sends back a grant for a resource for device discovery. The UE uses the grant to perform device discovery, which includes re-calculating the communication metrics.
