  • Patent number: 11329324
Abstract: An energy storage system has one or more energy storage units, each energy storage unit including one or more energy storage modules, and each energy storage module including a plurality of electrochemical energy storage devices connected in series. A DC switching device is provided in series with the or each energy storage unit. The DC switching device includes a semiconductor device and a rectifying unit in parallel with the semiconductor device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 2018
Date of Patent: May 10, 2022
    Assignee: SIEMENS ENERGY AS
    Inventors: Sivert Eliassen, Roy Holen
  • Patent number: 11300630
Abstract: A method of ground fault detection in a power distribution system includes detecting a ground fault in the power distribution system; sending an instruction to a first switching device to disconnect a first energy storage unit from the energy storage system whilst the remaining energy storage units remain connected in parallel to the DC bus to be able to continue to supply power to the power distribution system and testing again for a ground fault. The testing for a ground fault is carried out again and disconnecting, testing and reconnecting steps are repeated until the ground fault has been identified, or all energy storage units have been tested.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 2019
Date of Patent: April 12, 2022

  • Publication number: 20200028223
Abstract: An energy storage module cooling system having a source of cooling fluid; and a fluid conduit for supplying the cooling fluid to one or more energy storage modules. Each energy storage module has carriers for a plurality of energy storage devices; the carriers further have cooling channels forming a cooler for each energy storage device. One surface of each energy storage device is in thermal contact with the cooler; and another surface of the energy storage device is provided with a thermally insulating layer, whereby heat transfer between adjacent energy storage devices is reduced.

  • Patent number: 9035739
Abstract: A subsea fuse assembly is provided. The subsea fuse assembly is adapted to be operated in a pressurized environment. The subsea fuse assembly includes an enclosure adapted to be filled with a dielectric liquid, and a pressure compensator including a flexible element for pressure compensation. The subsea fuse assembly also includes a first penetrator and a second penetrator each passing through a wall of the enclosure for leading a first electric conductor and a second electric conductor, respectively, into the enclosure. The subsea fuse assembly includes a fuse arranged inside the enclosure and connected between the first electric conductor and the second electric conductor.
