The energy storage system comprises multiple interconnected battery devices and a communication network, where a battery device comprises a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and a battery device comprises a storage battery, a controller, and first and second switch modules; a positive pole of the storage battery is connected to a first terminal of the first switch module, the positive electrode and a first terminal of the second switch module are connected to a second terminal of the first switch module, and a second terminal of the second switch module is connected to a negative pole of the storage battery. The multiple battery devices can simultaneously perform disconnection and connection operations.

Technical solutions in the present application improves availability of an energy storage system.
