    Abstract: A method includes receiving, through a vertical polarization port of an orthogonal-mode transducer (OMT), a vertical polarized signal from a vertical polarization diplexer, and receiving, through a horizontal polarization port of the OMT, a horizontal polarized signal from a horizontal polarization diplexer. The method also includes receiving, through a common port of the OMT, a circular polarized signal comprising the vertical and horizontal polarized signals. The common waveguide includes a septum polarizer configured to split or combine between the circular polarized signal, and the vertical polarized signal and the horizontal polarized signal.

The attenuation device is placed between a radio transmitter and an antenna in a transmission system. The attenuation device may be coated with protective material, and may have small dimensions such that the organization and dimensions of the transmission system are not significantly modified. The attenuation device reduces the power of a signal to be transmitted to a receiver, and has a good return loss indicative of a relatively low mismatch with the antenna.

    Abstract: A flywheel energy storage system comprises a rotor having a rotational axis about which the rotor spins in operation and comprising a ferrous material and a housing enclosing the rotor and having an interior subject to a vacuum. The system further comprises a vacuum pump configured to provide the vacuum of the interior of the housing, an electromagnet configured to apply a magnetic field and lift the rotor vertically along the rotational axis of the rotor, and at least one bearing provided between the rotor and the housing, and a controller in operative communication with the electromagnet and the vacuum pump. The rotor applies a force against the at least one bearing.
