The method includes displaying a section of a document on a screen of the handheld device, and receiving an input from a user of the handheld device. The method further includes interpreting the input as an intention to change and to render a different section of the document, and rendering the different section of the document.

Abstract: Examples described herein enable a user to organize and manage e-books on a computing device that utilizes a network-based e-book service. According to some examples, a user e-book collection can be organized so that it can be displayed when archived, as well as in accordance with user-defined lists.

Abstract: A remote control method for adjusting the temporal length between first and second command codes for an activity includes transmitting the first command code and transmitting the second command code after a first temporal length to an appliance. The method includes determining whether the appliance executed the second command code including: i) if the remote control receives an input that the appliance executed the second command code, the first temporal length is stored in memory and used for subsequently requests for the activity, or if the remote control receives an input that the appliance did not execute the second command code, the first temporal length is lengthened to a second temporal length. Until the first temporal length is not lengthened to the second temporal length, the remote control repeats the transmitting steps, and the determining step where the first temporal length for the second transmitting step is substituted with the second temporal length.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling the use of a device to control multiple devices that participate in the presentation of content are disclosed. In particular, a first device may receive information corresponding to the state of appliances to be controlled. A second device having a graphical user interface may be enabled by the first device to update its graphical user interface in accordance with the appliance states for which the first device receives information. In some embodiments, the second device is a handheld device that controls the appliances.

Abstract: A portable device configured to control a set of home entertainment appliances includes a processor; and a transceiver coupled to the processor. The transceiver is configured to transmit information to a computer system and receive information from the computer system. The portable device further includes a display coupled to the processor. The processor is configured to: i) collect use information associated with controlling the set of home entertainment appliances, and ii) control the transceiver to transmit the use information to a computer system. The computer system is configured to: i) analyze the use information to determine a set of content related to the use information, ii) generate a set of recommendations that includes information that identifies the set of content, and iii) send the set of recommendations to the transceiver for display of the set of recommendations on the display.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling blind navigation of a control device having a touch interface include one or more steps of receiving an indication that the control device is to enable blind navigation, receiving an input via the touch interface, determining a command to which the received input corresponds, and executing or transmitting the command.
