  • Publication number: 20070175347
Abstract: A spacer ink printing apparatus for printing spacers on an LCD substrate includes a main body, a pressing roller and a spacer ink removing portion. The apparatus may further include a spacer ink guiding portion and/or a spacer ink spreading portion. The pressing roller is combined with the main body and rotates so as to press a spacer ink sprayed onto a printing plate into each of a plurality of receiving recesses of the printing plate. The spacer ink removing portion is combined with the main body and serves to remove any excess spacer ink from the printing plate, thereby reducing wasted spacer ink and decreasing the manufacturing cost of LCDs produced with the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070169646
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for printing spacers on LCD substrates include a printing roller and a planarizing unit. The printing roller picks up a plurality of spacer ink dots, each containing a plurality of minute, rigid, spherical spacers, onto an outer surface thereof and prints them on an LCD substrate at selected locations thereon. The planarizing unit is spaced apart from the outer surface of the printing roller and operates to planarize the spacers such that the spacers are arranged in a single layer having a uniform height substantially equal to the diameter of the spacers. The planarizing unit thereby prevents the spacers from being printed on the substrate in multiple layers such that the cell gap between the substrates of the LCD does not vary, but is uniform in height, thereby improving the quality of the image produced by the display.

  • Publication number: 20070153214
Abstract: A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a seal line and an outer spacer. The first substrate includes a display area on which a plurality of thin film transistors are formed, and a peripheral area surrounding the display area. The second substrate is opposite to the first substrate. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The seal line is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate in the peripheral area to confine the liquid crystal between the first and second substrates. The outer spacers are disposed in the peripheral area, and inwardly spaced apart from the seal line by a separation distance thereby preventing liquid crystal from being polluted by particles of an uncured seal line during manufacturing.

  • Publication number: 20060232720
Abstract: An array substrate includes a switching device, a pixel electrode, an alignment layer and a storage electrode part. The switching device is formed in a pixel area defined by gate lines and data lines. The pixel electrode is formed in the pixel area and electrically connected to the switching device. The alignment layer is formed on the pixel electrode and rubbed in a predetermined alignment direction. The storage electrode part is formed in an area adjacent to the switching device. The storage electrode part includes at least one side having an angle of about forty degrees to about fifty degrees with respect to the alignment direction. The array substrate improves display quality of the liquid crystal display panel.

  • Publication number: 20060221031
Abstract: A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The second substrate faces the first substrate. The second substrate includes a switching device that is electrically connected to a data line and a gate line, a pixel electrode that is electrically connected to the switching device, and an interference-reducing member that reduces electrical interference between the data line and the pixel electrode. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first and second substrates, with the liquid crystal layer being operated in an optical compensated bend (OCB) mode. Therefore, an electric interference between the data line and the pixel electrode is prevented and the bend alignment state is stably maintained. Additionally, a manufacturing cost is lowered.
