  • Publication number: 20130059120
Abstract: A surface treatment for a protective plastic film and/or laminate is disclosed. Suitably, the surface treatment includes coating a major surface of the plastic film or laminate with a curable coating formulation wherein one or more of the coating ingredients are diffused or migrated at least partially into the plastic film or plastic laminate. The migration of coating ingredients creates a gradual transition layer from the plastic film to the coating layer and leads to unique properties. Optionally, the surface treated plastic film is laminated to a release liner coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) to form the aforementioned laminate.

Inventors: Ming Kun Shi, Liviu Dinescu, Sohail Akhter
  • Patent number: 5958537
Abstract: Static dissipative labels are described which comprise a polyester or polyimide backing film laminated to a conductive primer layer which in turn is laminated to a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The primer layer and adhesive layer contain conductive particles, e.g. metals, and the conductive particles in the adhesive layer are arranged such that they span the thickness of the layer.

  • Patent number: 5670254
Abstract: High clarity, tear resistant, static dissipative cover tapes for two-piece surface mount device packaging tapes are described comprising of backing film, e.g. a polyester film, one side of which is coated with a thin layer of heat-sealable adhesive, e.g. an adhesive comprising a styrenic block elastomer, and the other side of which is coated with an organic antistatic agent. The cover tapes of this invention can be used with carrier tapes made from a variety of materials, e.g. polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, etc., and demonstrate a consistent peel force of between about 10 and about 120 grams.
