Patent number: 8763830Abstract: A tamper-indicating plastic closure, and tamper-evident package includes a closure wherein the closure includes a pilfer band having a substantially continuous tamper-ring. The tamper-ring extends generally angularly upwardly and inwardly of the closure in a tamper-indicating orientation of the tamper-ring for engagement with a relatively enlarged annular locking ring of the associated container. The tamper-ring includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections, which comprise relatively thick regions or shoulders, which act to limit lateral movement of the pilfer band with respect to the container by engagement of at least one shoulder with the associated container generally beneath the container locking ring.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2011Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Closure Systems International Inc.Inventors: Sohail Sadiq, John Edie, David E. Gevers, William Moll

Publication number: 20120091134Abstract: A tamper-indicating plastic closure, and tamper-evident package are disclosed, wherein the closure includes a pilfer band having a substantially continuous tamper-ring. The tamper-ring extends generally angularly upwardly and inwardly of the closure in a tamper-indicating orientation of the tamper-ring for engagement with a relatively enlarged annular locking ring of the associated container. Notably, the tamper-ring includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced, projections, which preferably comprise relatively thick regions or shoulders, which desirably act to limit lateral movement of the pilfer band with respect to the container by engagement of at least one shoulder with the associated container generally beneath the container locking ring.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2011Publication date: April 19, 2012Inventors: Sohail Sadiq, John Edie, David E. Patent number: 7255824Abstract: An apparatus for molding a plastic closure includes a male mold assembly including a forming pin and an outer pin sleeve which cooperate with a female mold for defining a mold cavity. To facilitate mechanical stripping of a molded closure from the forming pin, pressurized air is introduced into the molded closure through at least one air passageway which extends axially between the forming pin and pin sleeve. By outwardly expanding and forming the plastic closure during ejection from the forming pin, forces to which the closure is subjected during ejection are significantly reduced, thereby desirably reducing the amount of cooling of the closure that is required during the molding cycle prior to ejection. Significantly increased operating speeds for the compression molding apparatus can thus be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2005Date of Patent: August 14, 2007Assignee: Alcoa Closure Systems InternationalInventors: David Cerny, Ramesh Kamath, Mark Powell, Greg Mishler, Sohail Sadiq, David Oles, Lindsey Abney

Publication number: 20020120915Abstract: A method for scheduling computation operations on a very long instruction word processor to achieve an optimal iteration period for a cyclic algorithm uses a flow graph to aid in scheduling instructions. In the flow graph, each computation operation appears as a separate node, and the edges between nodes represent data dependencies. The flow graph is transformed into machine-readable data for use in an integer linear program. The machine-readable data expresses equations and constraints associated with the optimal iteration period of the algorithm implemented on a processor having a plurality of types of functional units. The equations and constraints comprise an objective function to be minimized, a set of operation precedent constraints, job completion constraints, iteration period constraints and functional unit constraints. The nature of the equations and constraints are modified based upon processor architecture.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2001Publication date: August 29, 2002Inventors: Shoab A.
